About this venue

Handsome Hollow is a truly rare place. This new Catskill Mountains Barn venue is on 93 stunning acres of meadows, forests, streams, and mountains. The meticulously restored 18th-century English barn is 4,200 sf and includes two finished bathrooms, a catering area, and a 1000 sf bluestone cocktail patio. The rental of the Handsome Hollow venue also includes two nights for six in the elegantly restored 19th-century farmhouse. We are proud to have been featured in Brides, Martha Stewart Weddings, and NY Magazine.

The Barn

The Handsome Hollow wedding barn has soaring ceilings, original post and beam construction and elegant details.

Originally built 240 years ago near Albany, New York, the structure was a working dairy barn until the spring of 2014 when it was dismantled and cleaned for relocation. In October 2014 the timbers were delivered and the frame was assembled on-site in 10 days. Over the following 8 months, a local craftsman worked on the barn and the grounds until completion in July 2015.

The House

The late 19th century farmhouse at Handsome Hollow has all of its original details, thoughtfully re-imagined in a clean, contemporary feel.

Each of the 3 bedrooms is simply and beautifully decorated, and the 2 oversized bathrooms are stunning; one with a vintage claw foot soaking tub, the other with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the private forest behind the house. A cook's kitchen is well-appointed and opens into a cozy sitting room with a wood stove. The 1500sf wrap-around porch has mountain views and incredible sunsets.

The Grounds

Handsome Hollow sits on 93 acres of pristine wilderness.

We have a number of ceremony sites to choose from. The first is a clearing in the forest surrounded by ferns and maple trees with only nature in every direction. Second, is a stunning mountain view site set in a large open field where your guests will be seated in a large open field. A third site, seconds from the barn is set inside of the original barn ruins built from bluestone sourced from the property.

    Stunning venue, incredible staff, tasteful farmhouse beautiful views and facilities for hosting a wedding of any size. We chose the venue for it's privacy and incredible views, but didn't realize we were also getting the A-team. Not only did the team handle the weekend impeccably, they generously advised us on vendors and choices to make the planning a bit easier, and allowing us to move on to the details that made the experience that much more special. We planned a 3-day destination in less than 6 months, and we largely have HH to thank for it coming together so quickly. The team was extremely clear, responsive and reasonable. When running the event on the weekend, they were a well-oiled machine. We can't speak highly enough of our experience working with Kate & Huck and the entire HH staff. The weekend was magical.

    Having our wedding at Handsome Hollow was an absolute dream. Kate and her team are professional, thorough, and beyond helpful before and on the day of the wedding. The location and grounds are stunning! We chose to have our ceremony in the fern forest a little ways up from the barn - it's like walking into a fairytale. The barn is a beautiful reception space that's open, inviting, and even more magical after sunset under the glowing string lights! We had a few guests including a couple of our family members who required assistance walking at certain times, but that was not a problem at all... The team communicates like special special forces to make sure everyone is comfortable and anyone requiring assistance gets shuttled swiftly by an off road buggy wherever they need to go! We also got shuttled as Bride & Groom does have it's privelages :) It was such a relief to know everyone was taken care of. Staying in the guest house was fantastic. The morning of the wedding I got ready upstairs in the barn loft, while my wife had the farmhouse the with hair/makeup and all of that. It's such a cute house, and was so nice to not have any traveling before our big day. Everything you would need is stocked at the farmhouse and help always seemed readily available if needed. It was just the relaxed easy going atmosphere we needed to chill out as much as possible before the wedding. There are so many great nooks and places for photo ops at Handsome Hollow! For a summer day it wasn't too hot at all, maybe the elevation helps a bit with that! It was warm before the ceremony when we took some photos in the sun, but we just cooled down in the farmhouse afterwards. The ceremony in the fern garden was under cover of trees so it was perfectly cool (both temperature and vibes!) The barn just seems to stay cool also, so that was no issue at all. We didn't get a chance to eat our desserts, so the team brought them up to the farmhouse for us to enjoy after the wedding was over. It's that level of hospitality, and so appreciated. My only regret is that I couldn't split myself into two people so I could not only get married, but also see the food buffet, see the s'mores by the campfire, watch our first dance (we nailed it!!). Luckily we had a phenomenal wedding planner (Lauren / Wild Blooms Bridal), and phenomenal photographer (Joshua Brown) to compliment the venue! It was truly an amazing day, and we can't thank you enough. You cannot go wrong with Handsome Hollow!!!
