Garrett & Tamara

4.7

Brooklyn, NY
  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $1,000

Garrett & Tamara are a New York-based musical duo and songwriting team. The couple's journey began in 2015 after matching on the popular dating app, Tinder. The two quickly bonded over their love of music and began writing and performing together. On stage, they weave together a uniquely vibrant fusion of classic r&b/soul and contemporary singer/songwriter, rich with two part vocal harmonies and lush guitar arrangements.

I cannot recommend this duo enough!! Garrett and Tamara are some of the most beautiful souls I have met, they were the one of the highlights of our evening. They are incredibly talented and charismatic and were everything we were looking for for our wedding day. Our guests are still raving about them! Thank you G&T for your amazing energy and voices, you made our day complete!!

Tim Ryan Smith Photography

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Photographer
  • Editorial style
  • Starts at $5,000

My work is focused on carefully crafting imagery that is wonderfully spontaneous and natural. I discovered wedding photography about 15 years ago and I was instantly hooked on capturing these magical fleeting iconic moments in people's lives.

We were fortunate enough to be put in touch with Tim by another photographer prior to our wedding. Tim's work speaks for itself - his photos are stunning and he's unbelievable at what he does. It was after our first conversation on the phone, however, that we knew we wanted to work with him. He's incredibly personable and goes above and beyond in getting to know his clients. We met up several times leading up to our wedding and also had him take photos during our engagement party which we thoroughly treasure. On the day of the wedding, Tim was a calming presence for us. It felt like he was a longtime friend which helped put us at ease and he offered really useful advice which we appreciated. He successfully guided the wedding party and our large families, keeping us on track prior to the ceremony and throughout the reception. Tim quickly shared a preview of the photos with us, just days after the wedding. We received our full gallery approximately one month later and we could not be more thrilled with the final product. Our friends and family cannot stop talking about how beautiful the photos are. We would absolutely recommend Tim and hope to find an excuse to work with him again someday.

J. Lebron Photography

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $2,800

You know those first few months that you fall in love & everything is so wonderful & terrifying & just so damn GOOD? It's that “new love” feeling & I’ve never been able to replicate that feeling with anything else, except photography. Your wedding day tells the story of your love. From that “new love” to the more comfortable kind, it is the culmination of all those moments leading up to “I do.” I consider myself the narrator of that day, telling that story and documenting your connection through my photographs.

Jenny Lebron is MA-GI-CAL!! She did our engagement photographs and they looked like something straight out of a magazine. My fiancé and I are a bit camera shy but she made us feel SUPER comfortable taking such intimate pictures. She was happy to direct the shoot when necessary but also encouraged us to share and try our own creative ideas to make the pictures super personal. She is such a kind person and I couldn't think of a more perfect photographer for us. I would (and do) recommend her to anyone who is looking their wedding photographer.

This focus is mirrored in our wine list which highlights small coastal Mediterranean producers. Our bar program similarly marries the flavors of the spice route with classic cocktails. We are proud to be located within a LEED Gold Certified building and to be a part of the DUMBO community.

We are so happy we found Celestine and could host our wedding there! When we first came across this venue, we instantly knew that it ticked all of our boxes. The views of the Manhattan Bridge and the downtown Manhattan skyline are gorgeous, the Mediterranean-style food is fantastic, and the staff is professional and attentive. We visited several times before the wedding to sample the menu and treat friends and family to a great time, and we were consistently impressed with the quality and the service. Working with the Celestine events team, Nisrine, Kirsten, and Krystle, was a breeze. During the entire period leading up to the wedding, we were in constant contact and had several meetings, which made us able to relax throughout the process, knowing that everything was completely under control. We had our separate day-of coordinator who integrated seamlessly with the Celestine team, and Krystle, our Celestine coordinator, on the wedding day. Once the big day came around, we could not have been more prepared and at ease. Everything worked and turned out as beautiful and perfect as we had hoped! Many of our guests have said (and are still telling us!) that this was one of the best weddings they have ever been to, with many of their compliments directed towards the venue, food, and staff. Among all the other wedding venues in DUMBO, Celestine stands out as a true gem. It has everything we could have wished for in a very intimate, beautiful setting that will leave memories for a lifetime and have us coming back for more!

Our names are Tess Mayer & Julia Wang and we are photography duo based in NYC. We met our freshman year at NYU Tisch and since then have run a magazine together, worked as teaching assistants at ICP & NYU, and shot our first wedding our senior year. Our style is a blend of candid documentary and stylized portraiture - we approach your day not as strangers following you around, but as excited guests (who happen to be carrying around cameras and massive lenses) who will most likely cry during your vows. We love small, intimate and relaxed weddings.

Tess was incredible to work with! She was communicative from the start, she captured all the moments that we asked and many more, and she worked well with our day-of coordinator. She was friendly and joyful, bringing a great spirit to the day! She gave us direction when we asked for it and captured organic moments. Every time we wanted a picture during the reception she was right there to take one. We definitely recommend Tess & Julia Weddings for your wedding photography!

Liesl NYC

4.7

Brooklyn, NY
  • Photographer
  • Editorial style
  • Starts at $2,500

Hi! I’m Liesl, founder of Liesl nyc. I started my career at an old time photo tourist trap in South Dakota and came to the big city to be a fashion photographer (with a few stops along the way.) Though I found a love for portraits and weddings and made that my focus, I’ve kept the editorial aesthetic. Though I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 15 years I’ve kept the South Dakota demeanor. A calm and comfortable presence helps a lot when you’re not used to being followed around by a photographer. Getting great pictures shouldn’t be intimidating. It’ll be way more fun than you think

I am beyond pleased with the engagement photos my fiance and I received from Liesl with Photo Pink. We had a specific vision for a 1920's prohibition-esque theme and she made that dream come to life. I was so nervous to book an engagement shoot in NYC in the dead of winter, but Liesl booked a gorgeous venue for our shoot where we could be warm! What I liked most about working with her were the thoughtful angles and directions she gave us throughout the shoot. It was obvious she was invested and present with us the entire time. Everything was easy - from the start of our communication to the end. I will absolutely be working with her in the future.

Lavka Flowers

Katya Rusin established Lavka Flowers with the singular goal of revisioning the sentiment and enjoyment of what was once a humble act; the giving and accepting of flowers. As the lead designer, Katya is inspired most by art and it's a visual quality that connects people. She translates this visual quality through the use of color to transform individual flowers into a collective whole. Katya achieves her designs by utilizing the elements of design with an appreciation for texture.

Katya is absolutely outstanding! Not only was she a pleasure to work with, but her skills in floral design are unsurpassed! The orchid arrangements with the black table cloth was my wedding, and she truly made my vision come to life so perfectly (which was not easy). Besides the fact, she was able to work with me on my budget and helped me cut corners where we could. ECHOES & WILD HEARTS

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Photographer
  • Editorial style
  • Starts at $4,200

Oh hey, Liron here. I've been shooting weddings for over 12 years now and have traveled all around the globe to document couples on their big day. I am driven by the sense of nostalgia and my mission is to create honest images that will echo through time.

Echoes and Wild Hearts work speaks for itself. If you love the vibe of their portfolio (which we did), you will not be disappointed. Go for it! We found EAWH through Wedding Artists Co on Instagram, initially looking for videographer as we were already very close to booking another photographer. However, once we got on the phone with Liron, we went all in on EAWH to streamline planning and keep things looking consistent. We wanted a very non-wedding, wedding photographer/videographer who would capture the feeling of our day. I feel awkward in front of the camera and cringed at the idea of pose-y photos, Liron and his second shooter captured everything better than we could have imagined and put us totally at ease. We got married in the Catskills and it was 100 degrees and full humidity on our day and somehow everyone looks lovely in the photos when in reality we were melting... Liron is truly a photo wizard. He also shot our welcome party the night before and our afterparty- all fantastic! From the initial phone calls and emailing about logistics during planning, to seamlessly blending in with us on site and making us feel totally comfortable and like our best selves, to photo/video delivery post event, it was a total pleasure working with EAWH at every step! Perhaps even more importantly, I truly feel the work EAWH delivered to us are some of the best wedding photos and video I've ever seen. We love Liron!

Erica Reade Photography

Brooklyn, NY

When I'm not shooting weddings, I’m a total beach bum. This might sound like an oxymoron coming from a native Montrealer, but I adore the ocean (and very much dislike winter). I swim and surf whenever possible, and I get out to the Rockaways as often as I can. I do a ton of beach photography, including a series about couples at the beach, and I’ve been published a few times, including here and here. If you see me at the beach, come say hi, and let’s have a frozen drink together.

Erica was absolutely the best, we chose her because we liked her style and that her shots looked very natural. As someone who is very uncomfortable in front of the camera, this was important to me, and on the day I felt very relaxed and was able to truly enjoy the moments with my partner while she captured them. She took the time to meet with us months before the wedding to make sure we were comfortable the day of, and captured our day beautifully (while also helping make sure we were organized and didn’t veer too far off schedule!). I highly highly recommend her!

I found my passion for art while growing up surrounded by horses in a small town in Brazil. The shapes, textures, and colors of the horses always have been inspiring to me. I’ve always wanted to recreate them, but was never really able to. Honestly, my painting/drawing skills were and still are terrible, and that’s when photography came up in my life. I would create imaginary cameras out of my toys and would ‘photograph’ the horses and my neighbors. Photographing people became my passion and then evolved into my work in editorial and wedding photography.

Gui was the perfect photographer for our wedding and engagement shoot. He made two people who feel awkward in front of the camera feel immediately at ease with his helpful and kind direction. Working with him felt like hanging out with a friend. We wanted a photographer who truly captures the feeling of a moment - and we absolutely got that with Gui. He was a perfect fly on the wall at our wedding and captured everything with his amazing documentary style exactly as we dreamed. We cannot imagine our wedding with a different photographer!

I’m guilty of romantizing my life, from my morning coffee in the kitchen to the walk to the fancy grocery store that’s out of the way. It's how I like to look at life. I take notice and enjoy the small mundane things. It's the same philosophy I apply to photography. It lets me capture and romantize all the moments that go unnoticed but worth remembering.

Hi! My name is Herti. I’m originally from Albania where I first started doing photography and then moved to NY, that was about 5 years ago. It’s an incredible feeling being the one person your couple trusts with capturing moments of their life. That’s why I put a lot of thought in every wedding I shoot. I sit down with the couple before the wedding, talk to them and get to know them. So when the day of the wedding comes they know they have nothing to worry about regarding photography. I’m a strong believer on telling a story through photography and give everyone who looks at your pictures a glimpse of your love.

Thank you a lot Herti for capturing our elopement so beautifully and also agreeing to keep it a secret and not post anything until we told everyone else.

Kansas girl plopped firmly in the middle of Brooklyn—and loving every minute of it. When I’m not awkwardly dancing at your wedding reception I can be found exploring NYC with a large coffee in hand, hosting dinner parties for my friends, oogling puppies on the street (please bring your dogs along to our sessions…), or feeding my popcorn addiction at the movies. I feel damn lucky to have a job where I get to hang with the coolest people on such an amazing day. Let's have some fun and make some awesome memories together!

Every photograph takes you right into the scene, as if you were there yourself. Sarah has a keen eye. Her photographers capture the feelings of the moment. She is also fantastic to work with. She makes you feel so comfortable and so happy to have her on your team. Couldn’t be happier we had her capture our special day.

Caitlin Cooper Photography

I’ll try to keep this short: I’m a silly, introverted, rule breaker with a sincere whimsical streak. Originally from Iowa with a decent chunk of time spent bopping between Minneapolis and Oregon, I love weddings + photography (duh), my nephew, a stiff gin + tonic, propagating too many damn houseplants, and my cats. Last I checked I’m an INFP, Enneagram 4, and Capricorn which makes me quite the pragmatic daydreamer + observer: as unnecessarily prepared as a Boy Scout, curiously creative, and hella laid back, all of which uniquely prepares me for the ebb and flow of a wedding day.

I can't say enough good things about Caitlin! My partner and I wanted more non-traditional portraiture for both our engagement photos and wedding and Caitlin just immediately understood the vibe we wanted. She's great at getting to know her clients and making you feel comfortable in front of the lens. Similarly, she just melts into the background during the wedding and captures everything you wanted and more, all without being front and center. You won't regret hiring her and I'd say book her while you still can, because she's only set to blow up more :)

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Does not allow pets
We had our wedding at BHS (100 guests, cocktail hour in the staircase lobby, ceremony in the library and reception at great hall) in June 2019. We did not need much decorations other than flowers because the landmarked interior spaces with woods and tiles already made the space look so majestic. Every guest we spoke to mentioned how beautiful the building was, inside and out. Randi, the venue manager at BHS, was always very helpful and responsive. Three notch florals (flowers) and Manna catering (kosher catering) that Randi recommended also turned out to be the best vendors we could hope for.
