Our names are Tess Mayer & Julia Wang and we are photography duo based in NYC. We met our freshman year at NYU Tisch and since then have run a magazine together, worked as teaching assistants at ICP & NYU, and shot our first wedding our senior year. Our style is a blend of candid documentary and stylized portraiture - we approach your day not as strangers following you around, but as excited guests (who happen to be carrying around cameras and massive lenses) who will most likely cry during your vows. We love small, intimate and relaxed weddings.

When I'm not shooting weddings, I’m a total beach bum. This might sound like an oxymoron coming from a native Montrealer, but I adore the ocean (and very much dislike winter). I swim and surf whenever possible, and I get out to the Rockaways as often as I can. I do a ton of beach photography, including a series about couples at the beach, and I’ve been published a few times, including here and here. I've had a camera in my hand since I was a kid. My mom was a wedding photographer also. I spend my days taking photos because it inspires me and fills me with joy. To me, there is nothing better than capturing a beautiful moment. I have photographed weddings all over the US TX, NY and the Hudson Valley, the East Coast, as well as in Europe, the Caribbean, & Hawaii. A few more things about me… I love the ocean, traveling, exploring, hiking, dancing, the change of seasons, the outdoors, sunrises, sunsets, walking without a destination, that few minutes of magical golden light before the sun sets, life… and telling stories with photographs.

I found my passion for art while growing up surrounded by horses in a small town in Brazil. The shapes, textures, and colors of the horses always have been inspiring to me. I’ve always wanted to recreate them, but was never really able to. Honestly, my painting/drawing skills were and still are terrible, and that’s when photography came up in my life. I would create imaginary cameras out of my toys and would ‘photograph’ the horses and my neighbors. Photographing people became my passion and then evolved into my work in editorial and wedding photography.

I recently became a Mom to my amazing little boy and decided that I needed to be home with him more, so I branched off into the event side of hair. As of now it is just me, I can work with up to 5 clients per event within a 4-5 hour time period.
