After one visit with Claudio at the Rotch Jones Duff House, my husband and I knew immediately that was the perfect spot for us to host our wedding. The Rose Garden was a stunning backdrop for our ceremony and the grounds provided plenty of space for our guests to eat, dance and celebrate. Claudio was so easy to work with, he was proactive in letting us know what he needed from us and provided so many tips and recommendations all throughout the planning process. The venue provided much of what we needed for the day, eliminating the need for excess rentals and even coming through a few times in a pinch with details we had accidentally overlooked. They were flexible in so many ways, accommodating all of our vendors and allowing for adjustments as we altered our guest list and changed our vision. Claudio answered every question, was quick to respond and provided invaluable insight for novice planners like us. On the day of the wedding, he was the silent star of the show; we had a day-of coordinator who was helpful and definitely necessary but it was Claudio who knew how to keep everything running exactly to plan and made the day feel completely seamless so I could focus on enjoying my time as a bride instead of stressing about the details of the day. Even our guests and bridal party loved him! From start to finish, working with the Rotch Jones Duff House was easily the best decision we made in planning our wedding. I can’t overstate how well worth the cost it was and how stress-free our experience with them has been. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the rose garden was and the stunning photos we took all over the grounds will forever speak for themselves.

And even though we talked with multiple people throughout the planning process, everything was very cohesive and all of our requests were honored (with no exceptions whatsoever). The Barker House by Wedgewood Weddings is hands-down the best option for a wedding. We toured the venue during the re-construction and re-branding process. They assured us that everything would turn out fine (and it did!). Venue/Space: We were the first wedding post-renovation to have an outdoor ceremony. The space is gorgeous and looks super sleek. It's enclosed yet felt so spacious. The cocktail hour and reception were inside the building which is absolutely stunning. It felt elegant, historic, but also comfortably homey. The whole venue is incredibly aesthetic. They did an amazing job with the place. Planning/Packages: The comprehensive packages are what really drew us to Wedgewood. It truly made the planning process SO much easier; the fact that the packages are so highly customizable helped make our special day the wedding of our dreams. They emphasized price transparency, and we were grateful for that as well. We decided to use other vendors for some aspects, and Wedgewood easily integrated their services into our wedding day. The Food: The food! Amazing!! We were gone during cocktail hour, but Paula set aside some of everything for us to try when we returned. We, and our guests, LOVED everything. The meatballs were incredible, the apple and brie phyllo apps were phenomenal, and the crab cakes were so good. During dinner, we again were super impressed. The prime rib, salmon, and chicken piccata were remarkable! We also added a mashed potatoes bar to be served at dinner, and that was a hit! They were phenomenal. For dessert, we brought our own cookies, which they were happy to set out for us, but we also added chocolate strawberries and a donut station. The donuts were a smash -- they were huge, fun, and absolutely delicious. For a late night bite, we added a nachos bar. Again, this was a great decision. So many people complimented the meat that came with those nachos. The food will definitely be a memorable aspect of our wedding! The Staff: The staff also helped make our wedding day a success. The general managers did transition several months into the planning process but this did not impact us in any way. When we met the new manager, Duncan, he was already familiar with us and our event and answered any and all of our many questions. Cassie was our wedding coordinator and was our main point of contact for the planning process. She was AMAZING! She was so much fun to work with and super helpful. She answered all of our questions super quickly and was able to solve any problem that we encountered. We also gave her a lot of autonomy in setting up the decorations that we brought, and she knocked it out of the park. On the day of the wedding, Cassie made sure that everything went smoothly and that we wouldn't have to worry about anything. We also met Lyric the day before our wedding during the rehearsal, but we wished we had met her sooner! She was such a ray of sunshine and helped our wedding day run smoothly. She checked in on us throughout the day to check if we needed anything. She was awesome. Paula was our banquet coordinator, and she was FABULOUS! She was so unbelievably kind, helpful, and always so eager to help us. We had accommodations that required all of the staff to have responsibilities beyond a traditional wedding at the Barker House, but Paula truly went above and beyond to make things go smoothly. Overall, the staff was incredible to work with, and they made our day so easy and one to remember.

  • Natural elegance with open spaces
  • Bridal suite on site
  • Offers full flexibility in setup and decor

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • No all-inclusive dining options
Awarded Best of Zola
The Multicultural Arts Center was a beautiful venue for our wedding ceremony and reception! We had our ceremony outdoors in the courtyard just outside the building, and the staff helped us to get the permits to use the courtyard, helped to set up microphones for the ceremony, and also helped work with us on a backup plan to have the ceremony indoors in case it had rained on our wedding day. The courtyard is a charming spot with trellises and greenery and is surrounded by classic-looking New England buildings. Adria and Taylor on the staff were extremely helpful in helping us plan our reception: they answered our many questions and let us rehearse in the venue so that we could figure out how we wanted to lay out the space. The theater hall was an amazing place to have our reception: we especially loved the balcony and the design of the ceiling, and there was plenty of room for a little over 100 guests, buffet tables, a DJ, and a dance floor. The venue was also a really convenient location for our guests - it's close to the T and has several nearby hotels. Would highly recommend!

Cambridge Boat Club

5.0

CAMBRIDGE, MA
  • Up to 120 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $4,000

Cambridge Boat Club is a social and rowing club, located on the banks of the Charles River overlooking Eliot Bridge. Originally built in 1909, CBC was picked up in its entirety and rolled upstream to its current location in 1947, to make room for the building of Memorial Drive. Featuring vaulted ceilings and dark exposed beams akin to a ski chalet, and double french doors opening to a full length veranda, CBC offers a unique, rustic setting for any event.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Multiple event spaces
  • Raw space for complete customization
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • No on-site guest accommodations
  • Couple must handle cleanup and setup
The Cambridge Boat Club was the perfect choice for our New England fall-themed wedding! It is an absolutely gorgeous location on the river with just the right amount of historic charm. We had originally considered going with all-inclusive venues, but ultimately opted for the flexibility we had with the CBC to craft our own vision. The venue features two distinct rooms, a larger room called the Drinkwater room, which can be used for the wedding dinner, the Club Room, which was used for cocktail hour and the dance floor, and a porch, which has a stunning view. The layout perfectly accommodated both the party enthusiasts and our more introverted guests, who preferred quieter spaces for rest and socialization away from the dance floor. Opting for this venue requires a more DIY approach compared to all-inclusive options. Since it is a historic building, there are some restrictions to be aware of, e.g. no sparklers or ceiling drapery, and existing wall decor generally need to stay on the wall. This was no issue for us since we had a clear vision for the wedding theme and decor, and enlisted the help of Tastings Catering (highly recommend, since they have previous experience working in this space and also handle some of the decor) and Designlight. Major shoutout to Katie Donnelly, the club manager at Cambridge Boat Club, who always responded in record time to all our inquiries and provided helpful guidance. With everyone's help, we were able to create the wedding of our dreams!

We had our wedding on 6/22/2024 at Angel & Anchor Farm with 125 guests. It was absolutely the best day ever thanks to the venue owners, Bill and Nicole. The venue is absolutely stunning. There are so many spots on the farm for your ceremony, for photos, etc. The farm was in full bloom in June as well. The bridal and groomsmen suite were also stunning, and offered a beautiful and cozy space for everyone to get ready in the morning. Bill and Nicole are also incredible. They truly did everything possible to make our wedding day so special. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, they were on it. From making adjusting for weather, setting up our beautiful reception tent, to attending the fire and more, they made our day absolutely flawless. If anything went wrong, my husband and I didn't know about it because Bill and Nicole just took care of it. We absolutely loved our wedding day and our guests kept saying the same. The farm is sprawling and offers so much space for guests to walk around and mingle. Everyone truly had an amazing time. Couldn't recommend the venue enough.

There are very few magical people one encounters in their lifetime. Stephanie is one of those people. She promised us on the first day we met her our wedding day would be the best day of our lives and this promise did not fall short! From the moment we decided to have Stephanie coordinate our wedding up until our wedding day there was never a doubt in our minds we were in the best hands. Her meticulous attention to each detail, ability to use her industry contacts to get things done efficiently, and passion for event coordination shown through in everything she did. She had a vision of what a perfect wedding day would be and executed all of the small details that built this vision and made it possible. She went above and beyond what you would consider coordinator duties and even went to the town hall for us on occasions as we were long distance from the Cape! Stephanie took each step along the way to ensure we were able to avoid unnecessary costs, reduce stress, have fun, and plan an event of a lifetime. In the future any event we plan I know Stephanie would be our first choice to coordinate and she would do so flawlessly.

We had a wonderful wedding at the Nahant Country Club. Yasmene and Heather were great to work with and our wedding ran incredibly smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful and unique, our guests had a great time. The prices are incredibly reasonable and we additionally received an off season discount. Their wedding packages include so much beyond the standard wedding packages including the use of the bridal suite, appetizers/champagne in the bridal suite on the wedding day, use of their (beautiful) centerpieces, a separate happy hour for the wedding party during photographs and much more. Yasmene went above and beyond on our wedding day- she even sewed my nephew's superhero mask when it broke. Many of our guests commented on how she was the best wedding coordinator they had ever seen. Overall, we are incredibly happy with our selection of the Nahant Country Club. It is a beautiful venue run by incredibly efficient and kind women!
