How to get to Cambridge & where to stay

Flight

LHR / LGW

London Heathrow Airport has the most international flights. Getting to Cambridge from Heathrow takes about 2.5 hours by public transport: you can take the tube to either Kings Cross or Liverpool Street station and hop on the train to Cambridge from there. If flying into Gatwick, there is usually a direct train from the airport to Cambridge. Both airports are about 1.5 to 2 hours driving.

Travel Note

Getting Around

The majority of Cambridge is very walkable and you can get to most major attractions on foot. If needed, Ubers operate in and around Cambridge (although wait times may be slightly longer than in NYC). If you're feeling adventerous, the most common way for Cantabrigans (people who live in Cambridge) to get around is by bike!

House Or Rental

Airbnb

If you're looking to rent a place rather than stay at a hotel, we'd recommend staying in Central Cambridge, where you can easily access most things on foot. Other neighbourhoods that are convenient to stay in are: Chesterton (where Andrew & Diana live), Newnham, or around Mill Road. Feel free to message either of us if you want any other recommendations!

Hotel

Hotels

We would recommend booking sooner rather than later as August tends to be peak tourist season and rooms book up quickly! Some of the universities also provide accomodation during the summer and don't dissapoint (we've stayed in Newnham before). If you're looking to explore Cambridge, we suggest staying near the city center! Click below to view some options and don't hesitate to reach out us for more recs!
