Question

IS SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE SAFE?

Answer

Yes! It is considered one of the safest places to visit in Mexico. Check out this article: https://www.smartertravel.com/2018/03/23/safest-places-in-mexico/

Question

WHY ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE?

Answer

We have a long list of reasons why this town is a favorite of ours and it's safe to say we are not alone. It was voted as the best city in the world (yes, you read that right - the WORLD) in 2017 and again in 2018 by Travel + Leisure, so we'll let them do the talking: https://www.travelandleisure.com/trip-ideas/city-vacations/san-miguel-de-allende-photos

Question

CHECK YOUR PASSPORT'S EXPIRATION DATE!

Answer

To be safe, verify that your passport is valid for at least *six months after* your intended return date — if the expiration date is uncomfortably close to the cutoff, make sure you renew it way ahead of time.

Question

WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE FOR THE WEDDING?

Answer

Black tie optional, please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose.

Question

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE CALLEJONEADA?

Answer

Dressy casual

Question

DO YOU HAVE A HASHTAG?

Answer

Yes, use it!! We want to see all of your photos and posts! #JONSUN

Question

HOW CAN I USE MY PHONE INTERNATIONALLY?

Answer

I know most of you use Whatsapp, Viber and IMO, etc., but what will you do when you need to use data? Like to call an uber? No problem! Each of the major wireless carriers in the United States offers add-on international data plans for your smartphone. Prices have dropped considerably over the last several years, so you no longer have to pay too much to get the basics abroad. Jonathan uses AT&T and I use Verizon. Here are what those two carriers offer: Verizon has an option called TravelPass that lets you use your phone (text, talk and data) for only $5 per day in Mexico. AT&T: Like Verizon, AT&T offers an International Day Pass that provides text, talk and data in Mexico for $10 per day in Mexico. Some AT&T plans automatically include free roaming in Mexico. Please remember to call your carriers to set up the passes and to confirm the prices!

Question

Do the people there understand English?

Answer

Without the aid of Jonathan’s Spanish or google translate it was a bit tricky communicating with people there. Most residents in San Miguel DO NOT speak English - but the good news is the people are very kind and *very willing* to try to understand you. **Fun fact: When we visited this past April most people assumed I was Mexican but that I couldn’t speak Spanish. 'Yo soy Irani' (I am Iranian) came in handy to stop the judgmental stares - my wisdom passed on to you ;)

Question

ARE KIDS INVITED?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. Bring them on your trip! But we want our wedding to be your night off. We can give you recommendations of babysitters (in San Miguel de Allende) to make that a reality.

Question

WILL EVENT TAKE PERSIAN STANDARD TIME (PST) INTO ACCOUNT?

Answer

No, the events will begin promptly at time the scheduled.

For all the days along the way
