Magic Fountain is an ice cream shop that is packed by tourists and locals alike. Originally opened as a Diary Queen in the mid-sixties, by 1977 the store changed ownership and quickly became one of the most popular Ice Cream Shoppes on the North Fork. While they make the classics well, like the bride's favorite Mint Chip, it is worth exploring their more adventurous flavors such as Olive Oil, Goat Cheese, and Almond Joy. Briermere Farms is a fruit farm and bakery known especially as a place to stop and buy PIE!!! *It just so happens that the bride and groom love pie WAY more than cake, so this had to make the recommendations list!* Their pies, bread, muffins, cookies, cakes, jam, and jelly are made on the farm from scratch utilizing (mostly) the fresh fruit grown here on their farm. Stop by and buy pickles and the best horseradish from a 4th generation family farm (farming for over 150 years). The 165-acre farm provides fresh produce, including lettuce, spinach, cabbage, super sweet corn, beets and herbs among many other products, to local and tri-state area markets. One of the bride's favorite beaches to spend summer days swimming, in the Spring it is great for walking along the jetty, hiking in the nearby woods, and bird spotting.
Known by locals as Jack's Shack for a concession stand that no longer exists at Southold Town Beach, it offers beautiful views of Long Island Sound.
A gorgeous local beach named 67 Steps for the stairway down (it has been redone and is no longer 67 steps, so no need to count lol). It boasts a gorgeous view of Long Island Sound and the large boulders left by the glaciers of the ice age (erratics) that helped form the island.
The bride grew up a handful of blocks from this beach. It has a lovely playground and picnic area as well as a town dock and views of Greenport Harbor.
"Orient Beach State Park, located on the eastern tip of the north fork of Long Island, is a natural wonderland of waterfront with 45,000 feet of frontage on Gardiner's Bay and a rare maritime forest with red cedar, black-jack oak trees and prickly-pear cactus. Its natural beauty earned designation as a National Natural Landmark in 1980. Other natural attractions in the park include the salt water marsh and marine wildlife.
