While we do love the kids, weddings can be notoriously boring for the younglings. There will also be open fire (weather permitting) and alcohol being served. If your child was listed on your invitation, they are invited to attend, but please keep them with you at all times. We want everyone to have a great time and no one to get hurt. If possible, you might consider a sitter for the night so you may better enjoy the event. Again, please contact the Bride or Groom directly if an exception is requested. IMPORTANT! If you are bringing children under 18years old, please mark the tops of both of their hands with a large "X". This will help to identify those who SHOULD NOT be allowed to consume alcohol. We are providing our own limited selection of alcoholic beverages and will not have standard bar service. Parents, it is your responsibility to ensure your children do not take part.
The lodge is located deep in the Santa Fe National Forest, beautifully nestled among the trees. New Mexico has suffered too many devastating fires recently, and we want to do everything we can to avoid another. We respectfully ask that there be NO lit cigarettes on the property during the event. If you vape, we ask that you please take that to your car or the parking lot as we have several guests with allergies.
We know it is recreationally legal here, but we have guests who are DEATHLY allergic. Please do not bring it to the event or smoke/vape marijuana products on the property. We also request that if you do partake before coming to site, please wash your hands thoroughly to avoid any potential surface contact. Thank you for helping keep our wedding fun and safe for everyone!
Lords, ladies, good gentles, and all manner of creature shall be welcome at this most fantastical affair! We seek to create an atomsphere of modern meets medieval. From vikings and celts, to fairies and fawn, to those in their Sunday best, we welcome all. As our passion is recreating the Middle Ages in the SCA, we encourage you to join the Groom in wearing your finest garb. Are you a fan of the RenFaire but not quite ready to dabble in that yet? You are encouraged to join the bride in your finest (semi formal please) modern attire. Are you searching for a place to express your fantastical side or uncover your ears, horns or tail? Join the flower girls (err, creatures) in donning (or creating!) your ears, horns, or fancy feat! Whatever you feel most comfortable in, that's what you should wear. 2 rules: Have fun and please let the Bride be the only one in a wedding gown... Need ideas? Check out our gallery page!
Do you have a mug, drinking horn, tankard, or other vessel you can bring to drink from? In the SCA, when we welcome new people into our group, it is tradition to share a drink and offer a cup from which to drink from. For our wedding, we would like to share a drink with all of you (and the Bride likes to be as environmentally conscious as possible), so we ask that if you have a mug, please bring it. If not, we will have one to give you! If you would like to look for your own, thrift stores are an excellent place to find them for super cheap. It's an SCA trick we use all the time. See the Gallery page for examples and suggestions. PLEASE NO GLASS!
While it may be a way to make a statement, please don't. Our DJ's microphones are VERY expensive and we have been sworn to protect them with our very lives! OK, maybe not that extreme, but we will be charged a hefty fee if a mic is dropped, accidental or not, visible damage or not. Please, if you intend to spend some time behind the mic, please be careful.
in many cultures and for a variety of reasons, rain on your wedding day is said to be good luck. (check this out for more info https://thepinkbride.com/wedding-superstition-3-rainy-days/) With that said, we will still be tying the knot outside, even if that means getting soaked in the process. While you will still be able to stay "mostly" dry inside the lodge and on the covered patio, if you want to be where the action is, in the event of rain, you may wish to pack an umbrella and a warm layer. Conversely, you may wish to bring a hat, sunscreen and perhaps even bug repellant, considering how unpredictable New Mexico weather can be. The weather should be beautiful this time of year, but check the local weather before heading out, just in case.
