A few weeks after relocating to San Francisco, Shannon participated in a local race called “Bay to Breakers” where 60,000 people dress up in costumes to run/walk from the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean where breakers crash onto Ocean Beach. Grant was also in SF, visiting friends and gearing up to partake in the same event dressed as an irresistibly attractive Milkman. The race starts at 7am sharp with the serious runners. Then around 8ish, the second group shows up, with no intent of running or even finishing the race. This second group is there to party: cue Shannon & Grant. A few hours into the race, they serendipitously bumped into each other in the panhandle of Golden Gate Park, and subsequently spent the next 4-hours dancing through the streets of SF together. Throw in a little long distance, a houseboat, the engagement, a new home (and renovation), yada yada yada, we’re getting married this summer!
On the last day of a weeklong vacation in Europe, while skiing in the Alps, Grant convinced Shannon to go for a little pre-dawn hike to the top of the Gornergrat’s observation deck in Zermatt, Switzerland. Waking up to another foot of fresh snow, they bundled-up and literally crawled their way up the snow banks to catch the sunrise overlooking The Matterhorn. While jogging in circles to stay warm, Grant approached the only other person to make it up the mountain that morning, a friendly Russian woman named Natasha, to hopefully have her take their picture while he proposed to the unsuspecting and slightly frozen Shannon. While Winthrop is not exactly Zermatt, we absolutely love the mountain setting and laidback vibe that reminds us of where we got engaged in 2015. We hope you love it too!
