The first time Morgan noticed Jessica was when she came in to speak about environmental policy in the Albee room at Bard College. Jessica had just returned from serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon and was finishing a 4-year Masters at the Bard Center for Environmental Policy. Morgan, juggling his career in the fire department and school, was in his first year at the same school and had a 4-year plan to get through his Masters and J.D. at Pace in Environmental Law. That first day they met led to a sequence of events that eventually drew the couple to want to spend more time together. Morgan managed to get Jessica’s number on his birthday night. Then, in celebrating the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade, J&M found out that Irish and Venezuelan’s have a lot more in common than they thought! Fast-forward a few months and the pair were enjoying dates overlooking the Hudson River at Poet’s Walk, going to Brooklyn Nets games, and enjoying a good hike when possible. Hiking and travelling have brought the two together. They’ve gotten lost in the Adirondack Mountains, but always managed to get a picture at the Peak. The two have also met most of each other’s family through their travels. Morgan’s closest family is in Wales, Spain, New York, Philadelphia and Florida. And, Jessica’s closest family is in California, Venezuela, Australia and Texas. Needless to say, the two have created an even more widespread family together, realizing the comfort and happiness that comes with their presence. Having a multicultural family, J&M have managed to harness the intentions that brought them together, learn about each other’s cultural backgrounds and grow tremendously as individuals. The motto ‘everything is always alright’, which Morgan shared with Jessica on a Spring walk back in 2015, has kept the couple pushing through barriers and brought them even closer together as they look forward to unifying their families and sharing vows on this full harvest moon.
