If you ask Alyson when she first met Kyle, she would tell you at a family friend’s wedding in 2021. If you ask Kyle when he first met Alyson, he would tell you he’s known her as long as he can remember. Kyle and Alyson share a mutual friend, Groomsman Chad McLean. Alyson and Chad have known each other since diapers, and they and their siblings grew up as family. Chad and Kyle met in middle school and have been wreaking havoc on the streets of Marshfield, MA ever since. Alyson and Kyle’s paths would occasionally cross over those formative years - a run-in at Rexhame Beach on the 3rd of July when Kyle would stop at the McMetscher campsite to say hi, or in Alyson’s mom’s back yard at a 4th of July party when Chad would invite Kyle to join in on the festivities. It wasn’t until Chad’s wedding in June, 2021, where Alyson and Kyle would truly connect for the first time. In the midst of the wedding after party in a crowded Airbnb, Chad’s mom, Jacqui, and Kyle’s Best Man, Brendan, had something up their sleeves. They grabbed Alyson and Kyle, placed them together on the back patio and then said, “You two should talk. Ok, bye!”. As two of the only single people there, they knew they were being set up. They laughed as they exchanged niceties and small talk. The hour was getting late, but to both of their surprise, small talk quickly became big talk and the two realized they had more in common than expected. What started as an awkward set up turned into being the last two awake talking about their lives, their love for food and wine, all of the live music shows they’d ever seen, their family and relationship triumphs and struggles, and everything in between. Alyson lived in NYC, and Kyle was living in Bend, OR at the time. The next day, the two said goodbye. However, Kyle had two more nights in MA before he headed back out West so he shot his shot and asked Al if she would go on a date with him that Sunday night. Deathly hungover from the wedding, Alyson determined a date would be physically impossible, but she wanted to see Kyle again as well so she asked him if he would come to her mom’s house for dinner instead - with her whole family. To everyone’s surprise, Kyle agreed. He showed up to Karen’s house with two bottles of red wine and seamlessly fit into the group, so much so that he joined the family for a trip out for ice cream and stayed up with Alyson, her brother Paul, and Paul’s now-wife Erin around the fire pit chatting for hours. This time, before Alyson and Kyle parted, Kyle asked Alyson if he could come to NYC and take her on a proper date. She said yes, but proceeded with caution given the grandiosity of the gesture. They went their separate ways, keeping in touch over texts and FaceTimes. Fast forward to July 2021, and Kyle was knocking on the door of Alyson’s Tribeca apartment, shaking in his boots, having arrived to take Alyson on that date. There were a few months of cross-country courtship, until finally Alyson asked Kyle to be her boyfriend in December that year. Shortly after, they took their first trip together to Joshua Tree, not far from where their wedding venue sits. They slept in an Airstream, hiked Joshua Tree, ate BBQ at Pappy & Harriets, cooked tacos and made margaritas, and fell in love. Alyson and Kyle dated long distance from New York and San Diego for over a year until Kyle made the move to the Big Apple in January, 2023. They moved to Brooklyn together in April, 2023, got their puppy, Carmela, in March 2024, and got engaged on July 5, 2024. Alyson and Kyle share a love of all things that bring people together - food, music, a special occasion, a lively bar. It is the honor of their lives to be able to bring all of those things together over the course of their wedding weekend and celebrate their love with all of you - the family and friends that got them where they are today, together in the place where they fell for each other. We can’t wait to party with you all, Alyson and Kyle
