*Maddie's Pick* Why Go? This is for the art lovers! The wife (Kathryn Hall) is into wine and her husband (Craig Hall) is into art. Both passions come together for you enjoy at their gorgeous estate and grand tasting rooms. Price Point - $$$ (tastings are still reasonable, but bottles are typically $150+) NOTE: This address is for the St. Helena location, but if you can get into Rutherford, you should take advantage of that.
Caymus Vineyards
*Matt's Pick* Why go? Caymus is the quintessential Napa winery - for both aesthetic and cabernets. Matt's favorite wine - Caymus Zinfandel - can be tasted and purchased here and is only available for sale through Caymus. Tip: Book your tasting outside or in the gardens! Price Point - $$ - Bottle price points range from affordable to more expensive.
Cliff Lede Vineyards
Why Go? - This is for the music lovers! "With a focus on producing wines from estate vineyards, Cliff engaged industry experts to redesign and replant the majority of the estate. The plantings were so specific and precise to each soil type and exposure that, to keep track without having to refer to a clipboard, Cliff decided to name each block after some of his favorite rock songs and albums. From “My Generation” to “Dark Side of the Moon,” he created what is known today as the Cliff Lede Vineyards “Rock Blocks.” The winemaking team gets creative with this innovation, annually crafting a small-lot Rock Block Series “mash up” of two or more blocks, featured in the tasting room and wine club." Fun fact: Their Rock Block labels are 'written' on none other than a Marshall amp. Price Point - $$
Domaine Carneros
Why Go? If you want to experience a traditional French Champagne house, his is the place for you! Classic champagne tasting, great ambiance, very cool estate and grounds (with a view). Price Point - $/$$
