We have a unique story; and it is one we will cherish forever! A sequence of events brought us to exactly where we needed to be, in order to find each other. We initially met on Hinge, a new normal during the pandemic. It was on this app that we first connected through our love to travel. We texted back and forth and through conversation, began to learn more about each other. At first, we spoke on basic topics like travel and our favorite things, but over time, the conversations turned deeper and the connection became more genuine. After some time, (ALMOST TOO LONG), we agreed to meet for our first date! We picked a casual spot, Dorrian's Red Hand, on the Upper East Side, for drinks and appetizers. At Dorrians, the connection we had built through text messaging became even stronger. Even though we had been there for many hours, it seemed as if no time had passed at all. After talking and laughing for hours, finally it was time to end the night. Nick, the gentleman he is, walked Kristen safely back home to her Upper East Side apartment where our first kiss was shared. Before getting too excited about the possibility of what could be ---- the relationship came to an abrupt halt. Kristen got a terrible bout of COVID only a few days after the first date; AND right before the planned second date; AND just in time for the Christmas holiday season. It seemed like bad luck had stepped in and ruined our chances before it even really began! At the time, Nick thought Kristen might have been trying to get out of future dates with him by saying she had COVID. And on the other hand, Kristen thought to herself, there is no way Nick would wait 14 + days of quarantine plus the addition of the holidays for the next date. With Nick traveling to see his family in North Carolina, only a day after the quarantine would be over, it would be tough to squeeze in a second date. At this point, we were both unsure of how, and even if, a second date would occur. Nick took the plunge and called Kristen to chat over the phone during her quarantine to discuss what the future held for them! After talking on the phone for hours Nick could hear the sickness in Kristen's voice and Kristen could hear how interested Nick was in waiting for a second date. Both of their nerves were quieted and the second date was back on! .......Just poor timing! The second date was just as memorable as the first. We went to the tree in Rockefeller center, shared hot apple cider and skated around Bryant Park's winter village. We knew then that this could be something real, and the rest is history!!!! Here we are over a year and half later, engaged and planning our wedding weekend!!!! Each one of you has had such a significant role in our lives' and our story. We CANNOT wait to get married and celebrate such a special and monumental day in our lives' with each and every one of you!!!
