While social media can have its downsides, one good thing its known for is connecting people from all over the world. Roughly four years prior to ever meeting each other, Judd and Vanessa were “friends” on Facebook and Instagram. Vanessa thought Judd was just a handsome, stylish, fun guy, living his best life in LA, who she happened to share mutual friends with. Judd thought Vanessa was just a beautiful girl from back home, with intriguing eyes and a genuine smile, who he hoped to cross paths with someday. Neither one ever initiated contact beyond likes and comments on photos. Neither ever imagined that they would actually meet some day. Fast forward to January of 2019. Judd moved across the country to cold, snowy Cleveland, after 25 years of living the California dream life. With a, “You’ll never know if you never try” mindset, he sent Vanessa a message on Instagram and the two began to get to know one another. After hearing, “He’s a great guy, but I don’t know if he’s marriage material,” from their mutual friend Enrique, Vanessa thought—Why not give it a shot? On February 4, the Monday after the Super Bowl, they met at Velvet Tango Room for the first time, and shared their first kiss. The chemistry was mutual, the conversations were interesting, and the laughs were never-ending. (The same is still true today.) Within six months, they started to merge their friends, families, and lives with one another. Vanessa reluctantly left her home in Ohio City, and moved to the suburbs with Judd and his son Walker. Despite missing the city life, she loved the life they were building together even more. Through the ups and downs of cohabitating, sharing responsibilities, raising a teenager, and surviving a pandemic— their relationship continued to grow stronger each day. And so, on the two-year anniversary of their first date, 2-4-21, Judd gave Vanessa the biggest surprise of her life by asking her to marry him. Obviously she said “Yes!” and you know the rest
