What is the closest International Airport?

The closest international airport to Durango is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is approximately a three and a half hour drive south of Durango. This is often the cheapest way to get here as far as flying goes. It's a 4 hourish drive up from NM.

Answer

Approximately 340 miles or 6 hours. You can fly into Denver and drive but it is 6 hours. For those looking to see more of the state while you're here this is a very beautiful drive. Much more pleasant than the drive up from NM.

What is Durango’s elevation?

Answer

6,512 feet. It takes anywhere from 24-48 hours for you to acclimate to the elevation so when you get here drink plenty of water and don't push yourself too hard. For those of us that like to enjoy an adult beverage you will want to take it easy, drinking at this higher elevation means you will feel it faster than at lower elevations. In my experiments when I first moved here it could be safe to say that 1 beer here is equal to 1.5-3 at sea level. I would say no alcohol within your first 24 hrs here. Remember drink WATER.

There are two public Durango golf courses. Dalton Ranch is an 18-hole championship golf course located 6 miles north of downtown. Hillcrest Golf Club, also 18-holes, sits atop the mesa near Fort Lewis College.
