Portland International Airport (PDX)

For out-of-towners traveling to the Columbia River Gorge, we recommend flying into Portland International Airport (PDX). The most convenient way to get to Hood River from PDX would be to rent a car at the airport. You could also consider booking the Hood River Taxi (see below) or coordinating a ride with one of our lovely Portland-based guests.

Hood River Inn - Best Western Plus

This is the location for our Friday night Welcome Party dinner and drinks, which all guests are invited to. Use link provided below for our room block. You can also call and say that you are in the Thimmig-Mattox Wedding group. The shuttle to the wedding venue will pick up from here as well as the Hampton Inn and the Hood River Hotel on Saturday. If you do not book through our room block, then you will need to wait until 2-3 months out for the regular room reservations to open up. Extending your stay beyond 8/8-8/10 will require calling the hotel reservations desk at 541-386-2200. If you find that there are no rooms left in the block, please reach out to Lindsay.

Hampton Inn & Suites Hood River

Another great hotel on the river front. It is a convenient 11 minute walk from the Best Western, where the Welcome Party will be held. Additionally, it is only a 12 minute walk into downtown Hood River. The shuttle to the wedding venue will pick up from here as well as the Best Western and the Hood River Hotel on Saturday. A cute historic hotel located right next to the after-party bar, Whiskey Tango! A great option for those who are certain they want to attend the afterparty with ease. The shuttle to the venue will pick up here as well on Saturday. This is a 20 minute walk to the Best Western. They also have a bunk room that fits up to ten people that is a more budget-friendly option. Use the link here for our discounted room block rates! If you want to use the room block rooms but stay longer than 8/8-8/10, please let Lindsay know and she will reach out to the hotel directly. Aldo reach out if you were planning on staying here but find there are no rooms left in the block.

Vacation Home Rentals

There are many private residences available for rental in the Hood River and White Salmon area. Please check out the websites for AirBnB, VRBO, and White Salmon Vacation Rentals for more information. If you do not stay close to one of the three hotels listed above, you may need to drive yourself to and from the wedding venue. Please share the address of your rental unit on your RSVP form or email it to Lindsay at lindsaythimmig@gmail.com.

Shuttle

Shuttle to Wedding Venue and After-Party

August 9, 2025 2:45 pm - 10:15 pm

A shuttle will be running between the hotels listed above and Tin Roof Barn, our venue. It is approximately a 20 minute shuttle ride from the hotels to the venue. While there is plenty of parking at the venue if you want to drive, we highly recommend taking the shuttle. If you do drive a private vehicle, please do not plan to leave the car at the venue overnight. The shuttle will also be available at the end of the after-party to drop people at the three hotels and at airBnBs within the town of Hood River. We will give out more details regarding the shuttle when we get closer to the wedding date.

This is a local Hood River business that runs private shuttles to and from PDX airport. If you are interested in this option, please be sure to book well in advance, to ensure availability. They also have fun options for in-town transportation.
