Bridal Procession on the Hardangerfjord by Hans Gude and Adolph Tidemand (1848) *See this painting in real life at the National Gallery, Oslo on your visit* ––Our travel & accomodation recommendations for your weekend in Oslo –– How to get here Where to Stay Getting Around Oslo

Flight

Fly into Oslo Gardermoen - Oslo Airport (OSL)

Oslo Airport (OSL) – Gardermoen is Norway’s main international airport, located 50 km from Oslo. We recommend flying into Gardermoen for its excellent public transport links, including the Flytoget Airport Express. Torp Sandefjord Airport (TRF), 110 km from Oslo, serves many low-cost airlines but lacks direct local transport. Travel to Oslo requires a bus and train, making it a less convenient option. Best Flight Routes to Oslo (OSL) London (LHR, LGW, STN, LTN) – Norwegian, SAS, British Airways From the US New York (JFK, EWR) – SAS, Norse Atlantic Airways Los Angeles (LAX) – Norse Atlantic Airways From Europe Amsterdam (AMS) – KLM, SAS, Norwegian Paris (CDG, ORY) – Air France, SAS, Norwegian Berlin (BER) – Norwegian, SAS, Lufthansa Madrid (MAD) – Iberia, Norwegian, SAS Copenhagen (CPH) – SAS, Norwegian From Australia & Long-Haul Destinations No direct flights. Best connections via Doha (Qatar Airways), Dubai (Emirates), Singapore (Singapore Airlines via Europe), or Bangkok (Thai Airways via Europe).

Neighbourhoods to Stay

Oslo is compact, with most areas just a 10-minute drive apart, making it easy to get around. You can't go wrong booking a place anywhere in the city and walking. Taxis and Uber are readily available after the celebrations. It's a popular weekend – for the best rates, we recommend Airbnb. 1 –––St. Hanshaugen: Local Charm & Walkability (our pick) A leafy, residential area with independent cafés and a relaxed feel, St. Hanshaugen is closest to the church and well-connected to the city centre. 2 ––Bislett: Lively and Well-Located Just south of St. Hanshaugen, Bislett is vibrant, with bakeries, independent shops, and a young crowd. Walking distance to the church. 3 –– Grünerløkka: Creative & Nightlife A vibrant, design-forward area 15 minutes from St. Hanshaugen, with nightlife. Blå is a favourite riverside bar for beers or late-night dancing. 4 –– Majorstuen: Classic Oslo & Transport Links With grand townhouses and designer shopping, Majorstuen is a short tram or bus ride to St. Hanshaugen and Bygdøy. 5 ––Frogner: Elegant & Closest to Bygdøy If you want to be near the Bygdøy reception, Frogner is ideal. A classic upmarket Oslo neighbourhood with easy access to the fjord. Norwegians –– if you know anyone who would like to rent their apartment out for the weekend to one of our international guests, please contact us.
