The wedding day is Saturday 28th June. First our church ceremony will be at Gamle Aker Kirke (Old Aker Church) in Oslo, followed by a reception at Axel's grandparents home in Bygdøy (Bygdøy, a peninsula near the city centre)
Please email axel.emma.wedding@gmail.com by 15 April with your RSVP. We strongly recommend booking flights and accommodation as soon as possible, as it's such a busy weekend.
Please arrive to be greeted at the Church at 2pm, to find your seats and get settled. It's a small Church with limited capacity (we will fill the entire church!) so come early to get a good seat. The ceremony will start sharp at 2.30pm.
Midsummer Garden Party formal. Think Summer suits, linens, and elegant dresses—refined yet relaxed. Bunad for the Norwegians, and traditional attire are warmly encouraged. With grassy hills, a gravel driveway, and a walk from the church to the boats if you choose —stilettos best avoided. We will walk from Church to boats to Bygdøy so please considering wear or bring walkable shoes. Finally, layers! Norwegian summers vary—it could be hot and bright or cool and damp, so bring layers...an umbrella (hopefully not needed).
Ubers and taxis are easy to call in Oslo for pick up, and its a short 10-15 minute drive back into the centre of Oslo. You don't need to get the boat back!
Unfortunately we have a very limited capacity and whilst we would love to accomdate dates - only the names listed on your invite will be able to attend.
We strongly recommend Airbnb, as the hotel prices are high in Oslo this weekend. Near the Church, there's a boutique hostel/hotel low key, and cheap - Bunks at Rode - Studio Apartments we recommend https://www.bunks.no/ More upscale hotel favourites (with Spas) The Thief – Tjuvholmen (Luxury waterfront hotel with contemporary art and a spa) Amerikalinjen – City Center (Historic 19th-century building, stylish and modern) Sommerro – Frogner (Art deco design, rooftop spa, and multiple restaurants)
Yes! Our families are doing all of the catering - so please let us know as soon as you can if you have allergies/special requirements.
We will do a casual welcome swim & sauna in the fjord on Friday night at SALT (please see the schedule page for more info), and we are planning a Sunday after party/swim. Details to come on that.
There will be limited parking on the street up to the Church, and there is a couple of parking outside of the house for the reception.
The reception will be held outdoors in the gardens of Niels & Bente Torp's home, in a marquee.
We are looking transportation routes by boats, cars and taxis from the church ceremony to the reception. Those who wish to take the boats, will need to join our bridal procession walking through the city to the harbour. Otherwise, the reception at Bydøy is a short 15 minute drive.
Your presence at our wedding in Norway is the greatest gift we could ask for. While we won’t have a traditional registry, we will be setting up a link for those who wish to contribute to our honeymoon fund at a later date. Your love and support mean the world to us! 😊
We would love for you to be fully present, so we kindly ask for an unplugged ceremony—meaning no phones or cameras until after the vows. Our photographer, Andrea, will capture everything beautifully, and we’ll share the photos with you later!
