The evening before the wedding, we invite you to join us for sauna gathering at SALT, a unique nomadic art project space overlooking Oslo’s famous Opera House. With the sun lingering late into the evening, a dip in the fjord is the best way to feel refreshed for the celebrations ahead. Come as you are—whether for a dip, a sweat in the sauna, or simply to enjoy a beer or some food at the bars. The sea, the heat, and the midsummer sun will make for a restorative and invigorating prelude to the big day...
2:30 pm - 3:15 pm
We will walk from Church to boats to the island, please wear or bring walkable shoes.
Perched atop Akersbakken, just north of the city center, Old Aker Church (Gamle Aker kirke) is Oslo’s oldest building, a striking medieval stone church dating back to 1080. A short journey from the centre, it's best reached via bus 37 from Jernbanetorget—alight at Akersbakken and take a short stroll past the historic churchyard. For our dear friends with an appreciation for history, arriving early is well worth it. The adjacent cemetery, dating back to the Napoleonic Wars, is the final resting place of some of Norway’s most celebrated figures, including Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen—the former’s grave marked by a bust, the latter by a grand obelisk engraved with a hammer. Ceremony Details: Please arrive by 14:00 to settle in. The ceremony begins at 14:30 sharp. The church is intimate, so an early arrival ensures a prime seat. Getting There Oslo is best explored on foot, but for those using public transport: Bus: 26, 34, 37, 54, FB5A Train: L1, L2 Subway: 2, 5
Sat, Jun 28, 2025, 3:30 pm - Sun, Jun 29, 2025, 6:00 am
This is a midsummer celebration! Dress code: formal attire suited for a garden setting. Think summer suits, linens, and elegant dresses—refined yet relaxed. Bunad for the Norwegians, and traditional attire are warmly encouraged. Heels are best kept practical—the setting includes grassy hills and gravel paths.
Axel’s grandparents welcome us to their home, set on a hill overlooking the Oslo Fjord and the city, for an intimate midsummer gathering of friends, family, and traditions from over the world. There’ll be music, dancing, speeches and plenty of good food under the watch of Swiss Head Chef Willy Reichmuth—Emma’s grandfather. Let us know if you have any dietary preferences. As the midnight sun lingers until around 11pm (and down for only 1-2 hours), we willl roll out the coffee for an all night dance party with with back to back Djs from Oslo - London. For the rounding off the early morning in true Nordic style, the fjord is just at the bottom of the garden. A Few Practicalities The celebration takes place outdoors under a marquee. Norwegian summers can be unpredictable, so layers are a good idea. Getting There We’ll take a 20-minute walk through the city to Aker Brygge pier, where boats or cars will take us to the island.
3:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Sunday after party @ Skaugum, post clean-up! This will involve more dancing, music and hot dogs.
