The Wedding Website of Amanda Hurben and Seth Cheney
What is the most Alaskan way to get from point A to point B in Fairbanks? Floating the Chena River, of course! After the ceremony, pictures, and cleaning up, the wedding party will be floating the river from the boat launch at Graehl Park down to the Elk's Lodge for the reception, and we'd love for you to join us! To join the float, you must bring your own raft, oars, and life jackets, and we also suggest a waterproof jacket and ziploc baggies for any possessions. You may park at the Elk's Lodge, and we will have a "shuttle" service to the ceremony starting at 11:45, and stopping at 12:50 (only a 5 minute drive). If you'd like to join and/or use the shuttle service, please say so in your RSVP email! More details to come! We estimate to set sail at about 2:00 to get to the reception no later than 3:00. Since it does not take an hour to float that far, we are being generous with our time to allow for any obstacles that may occur with such a large group. Please be flexible with us!

River Float to the Reception

2:00 pm

Graehl Park boat launch
Front Street, Fairbanks, AK 99701

Bring a life jacket, an oar/paddle or two just in case you get stuck, zip lock bags for belongings, and maybe a waterproof jacket!

Please see top of this page for more details about the float. This will only happen if the weather permits. 3:00 is the tentative time that the wedding party will set sail, but it is an estimation. You are welcome to leave before or after us, but the plan is to be at the reception at 4:00. Our "shuttle" service will begin at 11:45 in the Elk's Lodge parking lot, and the last ride will be at 12:50. More details about this to come! If you do not plan to join us for the float, please help send us off over the Wendell Avenue/Old Steese Highway bridge (slightly downriver and within walking distance from the ceremony). We will have rose petals to drop over us as we pass underneath the bridge!
