Our Story

Adrian and Julia met in 2009 during their senior year of high school at the writing center, where Julia helped Adrian with his college essay and we got to know each other a bit for the first time.

A few days later, Adrian asked Julia to prom, and we went together as friends. About a month after that, on June 16th, right after graduating from high school, we shared our first kiss!

By the end of the summer, we were in love, and committed to start college in a long-distance relationship.

For the next three years, we met up as often as we could in SoCal, the Bay Area, or in the middle on the Central Coast.

Our most adventurous visit together was in Chile, where Adrian visited Julia during her semester abroad, and rode a horse for the first time on the magical island of Chiloé!

As soon as Adrian finished college, we moved in together in LA, Julia to finish her undergrad and Adrian to find work in his field in Hollywood.

We lived in LA together for four years, Adrian working in film titles and trailers, and Julia serving two years in an Americorps program doing community organizing work.

We adopted our darling dog Suki in 2013, and quickly realized that she made us a family.

In 2016, we realized our dream of moving to Europe together. We spent our first year in Darmstadt, Germany to be closer to Adrian’s extended family.

Julia studied urban development for one year in in Germany and then in Barcelona, Spain, and Adrian worked as an art lead for his first game company.

We treasured time with family and traveled lots! Some travel highlights included Budapest in Hungary, Belgium, Rome and Venice in Italy, Portugal, and Ireland and the UK.

By the end of 2019, we were ready to move back to California to put down some roots.

We lived in Santa Clara for the first two years of the pandemic.

In July of 2021, just steps away from where we had our first kiss, we got engaged! We waited so long in part so that we could celebrate with our parents and siblings in person. We had a lovely party!

We moved with Adrian’s company to SoCal early in 2022. With our families’ support, we bought a wonderful house in Lake Forest, just a few minutes away from Julia's Grandpa.

After nearly 14 years since we started dating, we cannot wait to bring together friends and family to celebrate our partnership and love this spring.
