Silk & Shadows is a Portland-based wedding planning, coordination, and event design studio founded by Ava D'arcy and Sasha Mereu. We work together to create celebrations that feel intentional, personal, and stress-free. Ava leads planning, logistics, and styling, while Sasha brings ceremony writing, storytelling, and officiating through his I Thee Wed work. With a shared background in event production and creative work, we help couples bring their vision to life while ensuring every detail is handled with care and calm.

What sets Silk & Shadows apart is our balance of structure and creativity. We don’t just make things look beautiful, we make sure they actually work. Our planning style is calm, thoughtful, and highly organized, so couples feel supported without being overwhelmed. With both planning and ceremony expertise in-house, we approach weddings as complete experiences, handling logistics, design, and storytelling together to create celebrations that feel personal, intentional, and genuinely enjoyable.

    Silk and Shadows Day of Coordination!

    Working with Silk & Shadows was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. From our first conversation, we knew we were in good hands because they communicated with us constantly and answered every question we had along the way. They handled all of our music and vendor coordination so smoothly that we barely had to think about it, and on the day of the wedding, everything ran like clockwork. What really stood out was how kind and hardworking the team is—they genuinely cared about making sure we and our guests felt happy and taken care of. They went above and beyond in ways we didn't even expect, and the whole experience felt effortless thanks to their dedication. We can't recommend Silk & Shadows enough to any couple planning their wedding.

    Nailed It!

    Silk & Shadows were the day-of coordinators for my wedding and they absolutely crushed it. They nailed the decor setup, they coordinated with my vendors, queued up the important moments, and kept the whole procession of events on track. They were also so friendly and communicative along the way. The biggest gift you can give yourself for your wedding day is not having to think about the event logistics for a single second. S&S made that possible for me, I was able to simply celebrate and enjoy the day with no stress. I highly recommend them!

    So much more than I expected

    I hired Ava and Sasha on a whim after a Facebook flash sale post. All I knew at the time was that I wanted a day-of-coordinator to ensure that my bridal party could just show up and not worry about anything.What I realized on the rehearsal day is that they offer SO MUCH MORE than just coordinating. If I could go back and hire them again I would hire them for the full planning and design. They even do officiating!I was thoroughly impressed with Ava and Sasha and would recommend without any hesitation to help with your wedding. HIRE THEM!

    Excellent Decor!

    Not like anything else

    I recently attended a wedding styled by Silk & Shadows, and upon leaving, I specifically sought out the contact information to give to a friend, because it was such a unique, moody vibe! When we recommend vendors, it’s because we know their work, their professionalism, and how well they collaborate, which helps create a smoother, more thoughtful experience for our couples.
Yes. In addition to weddings, Silk & Shadows plans and designs a wide range of events, including rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, showers, birthdays, celebrations of life, and other meaningful gatherings. We approach these events with the same care we bring to weddings, focusing on thoughtful planning, distinctive design, and smooth execution so each event feels intentional and well put together.
The amount of time you’ll spend with us depends on the level of planning support you choose, but regardless of the package, we’re very hands-on. Full planning involves ongoing check-ins and collaboration throughout the process, while partial planning and day-of coordination focus on more defined touchpoints as the wedding approaches. No matter the scope, we’re deeply involved, easy to reach, and fully invested in your experience. By the end, most couples say it feels less like working with a vendor and more like having trusted friends in their corner.
No. We intentionally limit the number of weddings we take on so we can be fully present and focused on each couple. Silk & Shadows is a small, hands-on team with a very personal approach, and we don’t believe in stacking multiple weddings in a day or weekend. We’d rather take on fewer events and deliver thoughtful, attentive service than stretch ourselves thin.
