I live in New York City and Northwest CT with my wife and our two rescue dogs. I am a commercial lifestyle and wedding photographer. My creative journey began when I spent a decade touring the country with my indie rock band, The Booda Velvets. While on tour I was always taking photos with my dad’s old Pentax film camera and a Polaroid SX70. During this time, my passion for documentary style photography was born and after touring I traded the guitar for the camera and haven’t looked back.

All the beautiful moments, from the tiny ones to the big amazing ones - they are all important. We tell stories from start to finish, with a focus on emotion. We photograph in our home cities of San Francisco, Chicago and New York City, but also travel internationally - we've photographed weddings in seven countries.

Our names are Tess Mayer & Julia Wang and we are photography duo based in NYC. When I'm not shooting weddings, I’m a total beach bum. This might sound like an oxymoron coming from a native Montrealer, but I adore the ocean (and very much dislike winter). I swim and surf whenever possible, and I get out to the Rockaways as often as I can.
