“DJ Seth was beyond prepared for all of our prep meetings, and is extremely knowledgeable so we knew we could trust him to take good care of us. To be honest, he sold me from the very first introductory meeting when he had a powerpoint presentation (!) to share, and then locked it in with my husband when he showed us the app that we would be using to share our music selections. Music is such a critical component of a party, and the one thing we were certain of was that we wanted everyone to have an amazing time and dance the night away. He definitely delivered on our request for pop music, blending in hit after hit, and got a rousing chant for an encore at the end of the night! We didn't know much about uplighting, but since it came with our package (plus he upgraded us with some fancier lights) we went with it - and looking back at the photos, it truly helped set the mood for the entire party. One slightly different request we had was met with ease - we had some cultural dancers during the reception who had their own music track, and Seth was so accommodating. He also provided the sound system for the string quartet that we hired to play during the ceremony; since it was outdoors, it was nice to have them amplified so they weren't drowned out by the ambient noise. We are so thankful to Seth for helping us throw the best party of our lives! VERY HIGHLY recommend!”

After choosing second song, they allowed us to set up phone calls to interview DJ's to find the perfect fit for us. We ended up choosing DJ Daniel Cabral. Daniel was attentive and set up multiple meetings with us prior to our wedding to discuss our vision for our wedding day. Everything ran perfectly throughout the entire day. The audio for our ceremony was perfect and the music selections throughout cocktail hour, dinner, and the reception set the mood for our wedding. We also hired a string trio through second song and they did a beautiful job at our ceremony and cocktail hour. Our reception was a party and Daniel made sure people were on the dance floor all night long. We also had my cousin play the trumpet at our reception while Daniel played a song in the background. Daniel mic'd up his trumpet for us and it was such a hit! We also got our Photo Booth through second song and they provided the uplighting at the venue! Not just a DJ who sets up an iPhone or Spotify and lets it ride mindlessly, but a DJ who reads the crowd, takes input from the bride and groom, and uses his skill and best judgement to provide music that gets everyone on the dance floor. Literally everyone at our wedding was on their feet for dancing and loved all the music DJ Trey played! He also was fantastic in making sure all of the music played on their appropriate cues and was well-prepared. We didn’t have a strong opinion about the pre-ceremony music, so Lily suggested we give them a time period/genre and they could put the rest together, which was so great to have taken care of. We had only one song request, In My Life, for when we left the ceremony, which they arranged for us. It was absolutely beautiful! Communication was very clear and they both so clearly care about not only the quality of their work, but also about making such an important day as special and seamless as they can. “The Lucky Devils Band absolutely made our wedding reception! From our initial phone call with Meredith, we knew we were in excellent hands. She took the time to thoroughly understand our vision and musical tastes, making thoughtful suggestions along the way. Communication was prompt, fun, and Meredith was so approachable throughout the planning process. On the big day, the band blew us away with their incredible talent and ability to perfectly execute our song requests, from jazz to oldies to classic rock. As musicians ourselves, we were so impressed by their skill level and experience and professionalism. During cocktail hour, two musicians played jazz, then they switched to rock mode for the reception. They truly made it feel like our own personal concert and kept people on the dance floor for literally 3 hours! The energy was palpable from their very first note, and their song selections kept guests of all ages dancing all night long. They ended the evening with “Purple Rain” by Prince and it made my life. “Before choosing Makai, my partner and I watched videos of at least a dozen DJs. Based on the energy and interactions we saw from Makai, we knew he was the one for us and our wedding day. From our first video call with him, we knew we had struck gold. What was meant to be a one hour zoom call turned into three hours of laughing and sharing stories as if we were old friends who had been separated by time. Makai was patient at every step in our process. He came prepared - he provided us a very helpful packet which enabled us to better organize our event. My partner and I did have many of our own ideas, and Makai graciously worked with every single idea of ours. When our ideas were incomplete or needed tweaking, he came up with creative solutions that incorporated our wants and his experience. After getting off our zoom call with Makai, my partner and I shared a big sigh of relief. In months of planning, most things had been stressful, but working with Makai felt almost too easy. We were very well taken care of. On the day of our event, Makai was early. Makai generously helped with things that were not at all his responsibility. Makai was loved by our guest; he contributed to a great vibe. At our request, Makai helped us stay on track for the whole event, and because of that, everything continued smoothly throughout the evening. Every time I looked at Makai, he had a beaming smile on his face. Even while continuing to enjoy the festivities, Makai’s music was on point. Amongst a handful of other vendors who were also awesome, Makai stands out because his contributions to our day were so impactful. I can’t recommend Makai enough.”

Co-Founder and DJ, Jon has a passion for finding and playing the best tunes, which is the winning combination any client would want for their special occasion. We have planned and DJed many clients’ weddings and events, but it wasn’t after we planned our own wedding in November 2018 that we understood the true stressful reality of planning. Because of this and because we own this business together, we empathize with the strain wedding planning sometimes puts on engaged couples.

The ambience with the group was amazing. They worked with us and our planner seamlessly! The contract was sent and payments were made easily. The song selection was a great variety that we were seeking from classical to Disney and classic rock like Journey and Queen! We has so many compliments and a great time would highly recommend!”

Public speaking! Well, that scary place is the one place I feel most comfortable. My passion is to charm your audience with the same personality as if it were you standing in front them.

“David was the EmCee for my wedding and was the real star of the show! (Okay I guess my wife was, but whatever.) He was instrumental in helping us keep the flow of our wedding go off without a hitch. He got a bunch of old white people shaking their booties with 90s dance music and The Spice Girls. (He asked permission for that one ahead of time.) On a serious note, I asked David to make sure I didn’t make a fool of myself at my own wedding and he memorably told me “I’ll wrestle you to the floor if I have to!” David was truly great. I’m so grateful to have him as part of our memories and to have had him running the show on our special day.”
