“Having Cascade Live Events as our DJ vendor was easy, affordable, fun, affirming, and common-sense. We booked Mike Steltz, Co-Founder, as our DJ. Where to start! First off, Mike was SO affordable for what we were looking for; we built a custom package based on our specific needs, and he was flexible priced it reasonably. Second, Mike was flexible and chill about changes along the way; we postponed a year due to COVID concerns, and after a quick chat he promptly sent us a subcontract confirming the new dates. No hassle at all! And day-of he was laid-back and professional when inclement weather forced us to relocate the dance floor. We also want to note that as an LGBT couple Cascade Live Events felt LGBT friendly affirming. We were transparent about ourselves from the first conversation, and explained we also had a lot of LGBT community coming; Mike used our pronouns, was comfortable enjoyed playing the queer music we asked for, and worked hard to make us our guests feel comfortable and affirmed the day of. Mike is NOT your corny old man DJ playing at a long island wedding (lol): he is young, super chill, and easy to work with. Fourth, Mike did a good job staying in touch with the audience on the dance floor. He played the tunes we asked for, but he didn't act as a living spotify playlist; he remixed some FIRE tunes, and pulled from similar genrestime periods to keep the energy up on the dance floor. He was in tune with the vibe of the party! At our request he had obscure gay club songs AND interspersed more familiar tunes. As a testiment to Mike's skills the dance floor was open for 3 hours and even though we had a small guest count we had 9 people dancing till the very end. Cannot recommend this vendor highly enough! (Side note: it was important to us that all our vendors had dinner, breaks, and a fun time too. Cascade Live Events did have dinner written in their contract, but not everyone did. Vendors are also human beings, and they were integral parts of our wedding! We encourage all wedding couples, regardless of who they book [tho u SHOULD book Cascade Live Events lol], to also be considerate and chill with their vendors. It makes a huge difference & reduces stress for everyone the day of. :))”

Over the course of the 9 months leading up to the wedding I probably had 4 or 5 calls with Thaddeus to give him the general vibe we were looking for & work out details. “Lucas was recommended to us as "the DJ you want to hire if you want someone you can trust to keep your dance floor full and to read the crowd to keep your party going," which immediately appealed to us. We live in Brooklyn, and got married in the Catskills, and found out that Lucas also DJs regularly at some of our favorite spots in Brooklyn. From our first contact with Lucas, he was responsive, kind, interested in getting to know us and our taste, and super professional. We connected on a personal level as well as on a musical one. Now, having had Lucas DJ our wedding and supply all of the audio equipment, we can't recommend him highly enough. The audio for our ceremony and speeches worked without a hitch (he also helped to professionally feed our ceremony audio/music into our livestream setup), Lucas knew exactly the right moments to take cues for music, and when the dance party began, he played great music that totally matched our vibe and tastes, and as promised, he kept the dance floor full all night (no small feat, especially because we downsized our wedding to 60 guests). “Shawn did an awesome job! He did the music for our wedding ceremony, the music for the reception, provided uplighting, and the photobooth. My now husband and I enjoyed working with Shawn. He is funny, easy going, and patient. His questionnaire is very detailed and is very helpful for pulling the music together for the day. He also was very focused on making sure my now husband and I heard what we wanted to hear for the music. During the ceremony, Shawn timed the music perfectly. We saw later watching videos that he even cut the microphone out for my brother, the officiant of the wedding, when my brother almost started talking over parents walking down the aisle. Thanks for that, Shawn! Later in the night, we had other challenges with our timeline due to longer than expected speeches, too many tables to say hi to, and my own indecisiveness. “I looked forward to every Tuesday night when my friends and I would gather at Brother Jimmy’s Murray Hill to watch The Barnstorm and dance until we couldn’t feel our feet. I knew in 2017 that one day I would get married and I wanted to recreate this wonderful feeling that I would get every Tuesday night. WELL, joke’s on me because I got that feeling and more. I do not even have words for the atmosphere that The Barnstorm created on our wedding day. Leading up to that day, Brooks was INCREDIBLY attentive to the hundreds of questions that I bombarded him with on a daily basis. He walked me through pricing, how the first dances would go, what kind of music gets played during dinner – every question came with an immediate follow up and a “how are you doing?” – completely above and beyond what a typical wedding band would provide. And that was before our wedding day even happened! The day of was indescribable. The atmosphere provided by The Barnstorm was absolutely electric and had every single person on the dance floor from 8 pm to 1130 pm. I genuinely feel like our wedding was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The band is absolutely magnetic. To top it off about one week after our wedding, as we were reliving the day, I get a text message from a friend saying “we booked your wedding band!”. They are THAT freaking good. “You won’t regret hiring Tony and Platinum Entertainment, but you will regret not hiring them. Your DJ/MC is one of the most if not the most important vendor that you will book for your wedding. I didn’t believe it until I saw it, but it’s true. Tony was recommended to us by our wedding photographer, Hannah of Hannah Lux Photography. We set up a video call ASAP and after the first few moments, knew he was the right person for our wedding. It was evident very quickly that Tony is beyond passionate about what he does. “Renee and Shaded Soul Band were the life of the party at our wedding in Madison CT this June!! After speaking with a number of Boston and NY based bands, we came across Shaded Soul and had the opportunity to chat with Renee. For the first time in the process we didn't feel like we were being sold magazines at the door or an overpriced used car with hidden problems. Renee spoke with us like we were real people, had endless tips and tricks for planning a fantastic reception, and didn't nickel and dime us for every extra note sung or string strummed. Renee and Shaded Soul provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. They accommodated our friends acoustic guitar number during the ceremony, played playlists we had put together during times they weren't playing, but when it came time to play the right song to keep everyone on the dance floor, we left it to the band and they made all the right choices.... we saved money on booze because no one would take a break from dancing to go to the bar!
