I have been in the hospitality business for over 16 years. I knew 2 years in that I wanted to focus on events and making memorable experiences for people. Over half of my hospitality career has been focused on catering and events. I truly love making connections with people and seeing their vision come to life with my help. My end goal was always to have my own business as I am truly passionate about events and absolutely love what I do.

I don’t think I’ll ever have enough words to describe how magnificent Nicole was, but I’ll try. Planning a wedding can turn into absolute madness trying to tackle every task on multiple different list. I also was planning a wedding during Covid. We planned over two years, so no worries, we waited until it was a safe time to do it! You can imagine how much work needed to be done to find a vendors, etc. Nicole took over 90% percent of the stress off my shoulders. The other 10%, was having no control over the stress of it all. I didn’t have to chase for a response. Contact was always open, listened to and respected. Her work ethic and desire to give you the wedding of your dreams is unmatched, truly. Her organization is top tier. If you want a stress free planning experience with someone who knows how to get it all done, GO FOR NICOLE!

I highly recommend Emma and Blue Door Flower Company! I went into wedding planning with very little knowledge about flowers. Emma immediately put me at ease with her kindness and patience. She took my scattered thoughts on color and style and transformed them into a cohesive vision. The terrarium centerpieces were a huge hit with our guests, and the floral arch framed our ceremony perfectly! Beyond her incredible artistry, Emma’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail made all the difference. Because of my chronic illness, I was worried about my ability to hold a traditional, larger bridal bouquet. Emma met my concern with such compassion and designed a beautiful, lightweight bouquet that I carried comfortably all day! Emma’s creativity and professionalism truly exceeded all expectations.

Trailbreak gave us an EPIC wedding. We could not have asked for a more perfect caterer. They were professional, personal, extremely hardworking and created an atmosphere that goes way beyond any other caterer. They were flexible and tailored the wedding to what we wanted it to be. They took a lot of stress off of our shoulder on our big day by taking care of all of the little details. Every guest was extremely satisfied with the fun flavors, food quality, and cocktails. The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Krysta ensured we were hidden from guests before the ceremony started, and Steve who served us, was incredible in making sure my husband and I had a chance to eat during the reception. Thanks to their professionalism and care, we were able to fully enjoy our special day without worrying about the details. • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
Awarded Best of Zola
Where do I start?! I think the pictures speak for themselves as to how gorgeous this venue is. When we were looking at venues in the fall of 2022, the minute we stepped foot into the Lakehouse at Owl’s Nest we knew it was our venue. Much has changed at Owl’s Nest over the last 20 months since we booked. Like other couples, this was exciting and also anxiety-provoking at times. The construction never seems to end with all of the additions to the property, but all of the changes just make ON an even more incredible destination. We loved the feeling of being at a resort for our wedding weekend and truly being at a destination, regardless of how far or close it was to home. We (and our guests) took full advantage of the restaurant, hot tub and pool, driving range, and the whole property itself. The golf course itself wasn’t open for our wedding since they don’t open it until May, but the driving range and simulators were more than enough for the golfers who came. The grounds are gorgeous (despite any ongoing construction). We have seen so many stunning photos of other couples and couldn’t wait for our turn! We were especially eager for gorgeous sunset photos. The weather and clouds didn’t necessarily work out for us, but that’s the risk anywhere. However, because we were at Owl’s Nest, we were able to still get out for additional photos as the sun was setting and they still turned out absolutely stunning thanks to the grounds and the views of the mountains! The lodging on site is great! A huge bonus for us was the ability to bring our dog to stay with us since they have pet friendly lodging options. My husband and I stayed in a deluxe nano unit, which had a full kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, bathroom, and lots of closets! Our dog especially appreciated the closed off deck so she could freely roam inside and outside of our house. Our friends and family stayed onsite in Gambrel, Contemporary, and Lakeside units, as well as the new hotel, and even some Air bnb rentals (right on the property)! Now last but not least for my ON review…HAYLEA was our coordinator and we LOVE her. Owl’s Nest assigns your coordinator about 6 months before your wedding date (and before that you work with the manager). From our first meeting with Haylea, every minor detail that we were stressed or nervous about was eagerly addressed by Haylea. She set up our venue from top to bottom exactly as I envisioned it, and assisted us through an insane amount of seating chart adjustments. She supported us through the planning process but was also SO helpful throughout our day, making sure we had everything we needed, making sure we ate and drank, keeping us on the timeline (and making adjustments as needed). We truly felt so at ease in her hands.

My now husband and I have always loved the AMC and we had been to Cardigan before and we knew it was a special place. The AMC is an awesome organization that makes the outdoors accessible to many people in New England. Even if that wasn't true, this would have been the best venue because the setting is so gorgeous. We rented the lodge from Friday-Sunday and had 60 guests stay in bunkbeds with us at the lodge on Friday and Saturday nights. The AMC staff made delicious food that met the dietary restrictions of all our guests. They let us set up all over the property and turn the forest into our dream ceremony location. We even cold plunged in the pond! I would do all of this again, it was just right for our crew.

Wow…. I just re-watched the video for at least the 99th time and it still makes my heart glow. Alex this is amazing and we are so lucky to have found you. We went back and forth about a videographer for a little bit as I am sure most people do. We chose to do it because of our daughter, we shared that with Alex and he captured it so beautifully. I don’t regret having film one bit, and I know everyone says that so why? I feel like I re-live my wedding each and every time I watch this 2:46 highlight and as stated above I have watched it at least 99 times... And because the 1.5 hours of raw footage was included, I actually get to relive my wedding, all the sound and candid conversations that I would have never remembered (some more embarrassing then others lol)… So yea I expected the video to be special, but it is hard to explain just how special it truly is. From the very beginning we were impressed by Alex’s talent to capture beautiful moments and angles that highlight the romance. And wow did he do that. Alex, we both loved working with you during the wedding and we absolutely treasure your final product. Thank you for capturing all the feels of our magical day - we will cherish it for the rest of our lives. Cheers, The Ziegler’s

The first Common Man Restaurant opened in Ashland, NH in 1971. In the summer of ’72, we catered our first uncommon event. More than 50 years later, we offer 17 event venues in five locations across the state. We’ve catered to countless happy brides, local businesses, proud parents, raucous best men, bridesmaids, and delighted friends. We’ve planned perfect roasts, showers, BBQs, fundraisers, anniversaries, parties, dinners, and weddings. Our success is built on recognizing that your special event is just that, a special point in time. Our friendly, experienced catering team remains true to that understanding and is devoted to helping you realize exactly what you have in mind. We’ve renovated the event halls at The Common Man Inn & Spa in Plymouth and opened The Nest, a cozy event space at Common Man Ashland. We’re excited to host events at The Barn on the Pemi, our rustic event barn located in Plymouth, accommodating up to 300 guests with views of the mountains and Pemi river.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away
  • Multiple event spaces
  • Allows pets

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
  • No dedicated areas for getting ready
My husband and I got married at the Barn on the Pemi on 5/31/24, which works closely with the Common Man Inn & Spa. We had our room block, rehearsal dinner, and after party at the Inn, but I'm here to rave about our experience with the Spa! After booking our venue, I spoke to the Inn about any accommodations or recommendations they might have for somewhere for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready the morning of the wedding. They actually have what they affectionately call the "Getting Ready Room," which can be reserved ahead of time. I saw some pictures, saw that the room had some nice natural light, floor to ceiling mirrors and salon chairs, so I figured it was our best bet. Come wedding week and I went down to the spa with my bridesmaid to see the room and the pictures definitely did not do it justice! The room is large with a sitting area with a couch, table and chairs in the middle and salon-style chairs and mirrors around the perimeter. Our hair and makeup stylists were THRILLED with the setup, since they are used to cramped, poorly-lit hotel rooms for wedding prep! I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but want to add one more thing. The night before the wedding, one of my nails (done at a salon back home) broke and popped off - nightmare! I kept the broken piece and brought it to the Spa the morning of the wedding to see if they could help. The Spa staff went above and beyond to make sure my nails looked perfect. One of their nail techs sat in front of my while I was having my makeup done, glued the nail piece back on, and put a top layer of the. white french tip and clear coat shellac over all of my nails to make sure they all looked the same. I would highly recommend the Spa Getting Ready Room for the morning of your wedding - the space and the staff are fantastic!

Sally Carpenter Photography

5.0

  • Photographer
  • Fine art style
  • Starts at $3,500
  • Serves Reading, VT
  • Offer

I have been a serious and successful photographer in the portrait, wedding and fine art fields for over twenty years and while working in London, I was awarded a distinction by The Royal Photographic Society for my documentary portraits. Educated as an artist and photographer through The Brooks Institute of Photography, I was also fortunate enough to attended intensive workshops given by the top wedding photographers in the world including 2MU, Jerry Ghionis, Parker Pfister, Brook Shaden, Cliff Mautner and Paulina Duczman.

Sally was a delight to work with! We were drawn to her documentary style that captured candid *moments*. Her portfolio showed that she had a solid understanding of composition, texture, and light & shadow. Additionally, it was important to us to have an inclusive photographer who respected all identities and cultures. From the very beginning, Sally was open and communicative, taking the time to understand our wedding day, offering timeline suggestions, answering questions, and getting to know us and our style. We had multiple experiences on our wedding day, including a tea ceremony and lion dance, so there were many moving parts, making for a full day. On the day of our wedding, Sally and her assistant, Gael, were prompt and starting working right way. Sally was geared up with multiple cameras and a harness. She even brought accessories to stage items for detail photos (such a ring holder and ribbon!). Sally was familiar with our venue, Lake Morey Resort, and had a lot of ideas on where to take photos (despite the slightly rainy day!). Additionally, Sally and Gael were extremely patient with our relatives, all of whom acted as paparazzi. We were super impressed with the photos Sally captured, despite our relatives randomly jumping in to grab a photo on their phones! Sally and Gael were everywhere and oftentimes, we didn't even notice they were there to capture certain moments! They were truly professionals who kept up their energy and enthusiasm the entire day, and worked in harmony with our videographer and the venue coordinator. Due to family request, our photos were a blend of candid shots and formal portraits. Sally balanced these perfectly, doing an excellent job with both styles of photography. We were impressed at how quickly we received sneak peeks. Photos from the entire day were delivered via an elegant USB flash drive. Sally exceeded all of our expectations. Her photos captured real, candid moments, beautifully reflecting the joy of the day. We only wish we hired her for the entire weekend!

It was incredibly important to us to have all of family and friends in one spot for the weekend. We had guests from all around the globe, and everyone agreed there was no where like it. Chris Powers Music

5.0

  • Solo performer
  • Starts at $750
  • Serves Reading, VT

Chris's live show is a very dynamic, upbeat, crowd oriented looping one man band show. Everything you hear is done live, looped and layered to make very interesting renditions of very popular music that crosses many genres. This is a something for everyone's style of music. Chris has performed at over 100 weddings for cocktail hours, live receptions and everything in-between. Chris also offers additional DJ services that will keep your guests on the dance floor.

CP was a dream to work with! From our first inquiry with Chris to the follow up after, he was attentive, professional, and determined to make our special day everything we wanted and more. He played a great acoustic set that all our guests loved--including my parents who were able to take at least one song off from wedding day duties. Chris MC'd the night flawlessly and worked with the other vendors to make everything go so smoothly. He followed up dessert with some rocking DJ skills to get everyone on the dance floor. I can not recommend CP enough!

Madelyn Fox Photography

  • Photographer
  • Classic style
  • Starts at $2,800
  • Serves Reading, VT

Hi! I'm Madelyn. I started my business in 2021, but have been photographing weddings since 2017. I'm a fan of candid and documentary style photos, true to tone colors, and everything outdoors. I know how awkward it can be to stand in front of a camera, but my goal is always to make my subjects feel comfortable and carefree.

Madelyn Fox Photography was one of the best parts of our wedding. She and her assistant were punctual, friendly, reasonably priced, and extremely professional. The best part was the fact that Madelyn would always be on the lookout for just the right picture. Definitely would recommend to anyone!
