My now husband and I have always loved the AMC and we had been to Cardigan before and we knew it was a special place. The AMC is an awesome organization that makes the outdoors accessible to many people in New England. Even if that wasn't true, this would have been the best venue because the setting is so gorgeous. We rented the lodge from Friday-Sunday and had 60 guests stay in bunkbeds with us at the lodge on Friday and Saturday nights. The AMC staff made delicious food that met the dietary restrictions of all our guests. They let us set up all over the property and turn the forest into our dream ceremony location. We even cold plunged in the pond! I would do all of this again, it was just right for our crew.

I'm sure most reviews say this, but we had such an unforgettable time at Cardigan, and a place that was already important to us became so dear. We stretched the template in a few ways with Cardigan as a venue and couldnt be happier about how it turned out. First, the event costing framework at Cardigan is different than others in that you reserve larger blocks of time than just an evening meal. We invited most of our wedding guests to stay with us onsite Fri-Sun to get tons of unstructured quality time with friends and family and distant travelers. This was our primary vision for our wedding and worked a charm, so much good bonding time, it was brilliant. Meals are provided through all that time, so it wasnt extra logistics to have all our near and dears together. The cost of the whole weekend, including sheltering 50odd people for 4ish meals, for roughly comparable costs to a conventional (nice) wedding venue's all-in for just a ceremonydinner, and many of our guests really appreciated that lower entry cost to travelattend. Second, Skye and the team looking after the lodge are so wonderful and loving, and kept vibes so easy going and joyful. Not an event manager--we did our parts, they did theirs--but just seamlessly. We challenged them to an all-vegan menu and they knocked it out of the park, and its a consistent part of feedback from our guests that they were shocked by "vegan camp food" actually being restaurant quality and plentiful. Last, because its obvious, this place is just so beautiful. We set our ceremony in a meadow a short walk up the (public) trail, and there are other gorgeous options too. A friend of a friend also had their wedding here and did it across a lil pond, and did a silly "canoe off into sunset" victory lap around the pond before getting back off in the same place. Also a lil forested grove area that is gorgeous and fit for ceremony. Many of our friends found time to hike around the base around streams and meadows, few found time to summit.
