My sister was expecting her third baby, she was in her third trimester and I decided to plan a baby shower because what the heck, every new baby deserves to be celebrated.

Professionally, Lindsay has been "doing this" since 2005, when she realized, while still at UNC Chapel Hill, she wasn't cut out for a desk job. From Chapel Hill, to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, where Lindsay prepared herself with a Baking and Pastry Degree. Fortunately, after a year in the "Big City," Lindsay and her family realized "there's no place like home" and returned to Hendersonville, where, after a brief hiatus, she has established Gâteaux.

Hi. I’m Emily. Mother, wife, and baker. I was diagnosed with psoriasis over 8 years ago shortly before discovering my husband could not tolerate any grains. While this time was rather difficult attempting to maneuver life with “dietary restrictions,” it was also a pivotal moment where I decided to continue making all the things I love (yes I have a sweet tooth). I embarked on an 8 year journey trying all the flours and substitutes in all my cherished recipes. I have found what works without compromising taste and texture. Fast forward three kids later who also deal with dairy, nut and gluten intolerances and I think I have found what works.

I've been a Pastry Chef for private clubs and resorts for the last 15 years. Earlier this year, I decided to start my own cake boutique for the Charlotte community. I am Deseree, owner/baker of Sweet Haven. I am a self-taught baker and have been baking for as long as I can remember. I'm a don’t skip dessert after dinner, give me anything sweet and chocolate, kind of girl. While I have always loved all things sweet, my true passion sparked when my son was born in 2018. I made a point to make everything from scratch and wanted to plan and bake for his first birthday. His desserts and cake for his special day went off without a hitch, and from that point on I have been baking and decorating ever since. I love being able to add something sweet to some of life’s biggest celebrations.
