Gâteaux Owner and Pastry Chef, Lindsay Cromartie, laughs when asked how many years she's been "doing this." Look at the circa 1986 picture to the left for her answer! Professionally, Lindsay has been "doing this" since 2005, when she realized, while still at UNC Chapel Hill, she wasn't cut out for a desk job. From Chapel Hill, to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, where Lindsay prepared herself with a Baking and Pastry Degree. Fortunately, after a year in the "Big City," Lindsay and her family realized "there's no place like home" and returned to Hendersonville, where, after a brief hiatus, she has established Gâteaux.

Lindsay is one of those people who genuinely loves what she does, and it shows in everything she creates. Excited to work one-on-one with her clients, Lindsay wants to ensure that whatever she is creating for your occasion is a perfect reflection of your personality, tastes, and passions. "It should taste as good as it looks" are the words she lives by. Lindsay promises that you won't be disappointed. Please visit our shop; Lindsay would love to meet you. Gateaux Cakes & Pastries was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding! From the moment we reached out, the owner Lindsay was quick to respond, incredibly helpful, and truly amazing. As a wizard of a baker, Lindsay crafted the most beautiful and delicious groom's cake, wedding cake, cookies, pies, tarts, and macarons for our special day. Everything was a huge hit with our guests - the quality and value of Gateaux's work was outstanding. Lindsay was also so thoughtful in her suggestions to ensure our desserts were exactly what we wanted. I will absolutely be a lifelong patron of this amazing small business. I highly recommend Gateaux Cakes & Pastries to any couple planning their wedding!

Lindsey was an absolute delight to work with! She really understood the flavor profile we wanted, ad my vision for our wedding cake. My wedding theme was Victorian Gothic/Baroque featuring jewel tones with gold accents. She was able to create a stained glass looking top tier for our cake that is reminiscent of gothic stained glass windows. We really wanted to highlight the fall flavors and went with an apple cake for our wedding cake, tiramisu shooters, cinnamon ganache macrons, and both pumpkin and spice cake cupcakes. Everything was so delicious and there were hardly any sweets leftover. 10/10 recommend!

The photographer said he had never seen a cake go so quickly before! The cake was absolutely perfect and tasted even better. The macaroons melted in your mouth and the cookies were to die for. Lindsay was also an absolute dream to work with on designs and ideas.
