With a background in fashion design and a career in creative direction, Arturo was led to his own venture in floral design. What started as a helping hand for family weddings and parties turned into a passion that led to full floral installations and event design. My name is Rachel and I am the lead floral designer of Velvet Blooms. After studying music with an emphasis in vocals, I began to rethink what my creative path would be. With mentors such as Laura Williams of Poppy Hill Flowers and good friend Kelsea Olivia Gaynor of East Olivia, I began my journey into floral design and never looked back!

Her journey started at the age of six years old, Melissa-May was surrounded by all aspects of creativity. Her ability to visualize things, put them onto paper and create anything from scratch was also apparent at a young age when she completed an illustration of her dream house, then constructed an entire floor plan and a model house made out of popsicle sticks. Furthermore, at the age of 12, her friend’s mother noticed Melissa-May’s gift of artistry and requested that she create cartoon place cards for her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. She later was asked to create the invitations and centerpieces for her best friend’s Debutant ball.

After graduating with a Visual Design degree from FIT in New York City, I moved back to the Bay Area and decided to continue to pursue my passion for florals and romance.
