Oliver Building

The Oliver Building Event Space encompasses 3 floors of a lovingly restored 1880s building in Kansas City's Historic West bottoms. With over 20,000 sqft the Oliver is perfect for everything from an intimate, romantic wedding, a throwdown party or corporate trade shows and seminars. Make history at your next event at the historic Oliver.

We had such an amazing wedding at The Oliver Building. Having the venue for the whole weekend made our weekend run so smoothly. We had our rehearsal Friday night, and brought everything over so we didn’t need to deal with it Saturday. Then got ready in the amazing upstairs suites Saturday morning. We had a great time, and Caitlin was so easy to work with! The only reason I took a star off is that we had some issues with the bar. We made it clear from the start that we wanted to prioritize the bar, and didn’t want long lines. Because of that, they said we would have 3 bartenders, and would batch some of our signature cocktails. Unfortunately, we only had two bartenders, despite giving tips for 3, and there were no cocktails batched. We did have a pretty long line at our bar most of the night because of this. All in all, it was an amazing venue for our wedding!!

Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in central Kansas is an ideal location for your outdoor wedding ceremony and outdoor/indoor wedding reception. Our gorgeous prairie landscape provides multiple locations for wedding ceremonies and beautiful backdrops for wedding photos. Our two rental facilities provide beautiful spaces for a reception or indoor ceremony at competitive rates.

I'm a Hesston, KS-based photographer, and I work on location at the beautiful Dyck Arboretum more than any other. I can say with certainty that the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains is one of my very favorite to work with; the staff there is helpful, positive, and collaborative. We've worked together many times, and they never cease to surprise me in their innovativeness growing the Arboretum both as a nature preserve and a business; they work super hard, are always up for trying new things, and are dedicated to sustainability. I highly recommend the Dyck Arboretum in every way!
