I started Sammycakes in 2014 with a simple ombré rosette cake. It’s always been a dream and passion of mine to open my own bakery, after being inspired by my mother always baking for special occasions when I was a kid.

Every cake is a unique collaboration between my clients and I. No two are ever the same, and that's the way it should be. The price of my cakes varies with the size and complexity of the design. When I opened SF Candy Bar in 2012, the business was busy from the start. In 2012, the economy was just coming out of a recession and Silicon Valley started to attract top talent from all over the world. Experiential add on features, like our candy buffets, was fun at office parties, trade shows and holiday parties. Brides and Mitzvahs also found so much joy in our services. Fast forward to more than a decade later, we have added on more services from popcorn buffets, custom packaged party favors, and trail mix buffets. SF Candy Bar is dedicated to providing stunning buffet designs to guests at special events.

Auntie Viv's is an AAPI woman-owned & family operated small business adventure. When we visited Maui for the first time, and I fell in love at “first taste” with my very first Hawaiian shave ice. How I describe this phenomenon: “It literally was like a deliciously flavored, puffy cloud that instantly melted in my mouth & tasted like liquid gold. It was the best epicurean experience ever." I had my sights set on opening my own shave ice business & spending more time with my husband & two young daughters. I found myself being unhappy, working really long hours & it took a toll on my physical & mental health. Auntie Viv's opened Sept. 2017.

With an art background as a professional painter, Kellie Velasquez attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to hone her baking and pastry skills. After her first year in school, she sought out the opportunity to work with world renowned Cake Designer, Maggie Austin, where she developed her fundamental skills with wedding cakes and design. After completing the prestigious baking and pastry arts degree program at CIA, she held positions at some of San Francisco’s top bakeries, including Craftsman & Wolves, Susie Cakes, and most recently Pastry Chef at the popular Jane on Larkin.

....There once was a bride looking for a beautiful wedding cake to satisfy the appetite of 250 guests at her wedding. She looked and looked but wasn't able to find the perfect centerpiece to her dessert table at the price that she seeked. So she decided to take a leap of faith and make her own cake! And that's where it all began. From humble beginnings in Montreal to opening up shop in Danville and happily delivering carbs to our amazing clients. All made with wholesome ingredients and lots of love.

Laura Curtis, a Culinary Institute of America grad, was working as a R&D chef when she made her first batch of bright pink, tart & fruity Raspberry Hibiscus marshmallows. Her husband suggested she name the new amply fluffy creations Malvi, short for malvavisco, the Spanish word for marshmallow. She created Malvi Mallows using European-Style butter and Fair-Trade chocolate to make Malvi cookies extra rich, and dried hibiscus flowers, locally roasted espresso, whole vanilla bean, and organic Georgia peanuts to maximize marshmallow flavors, then built a business so that everyone can party s'more.

Dina's love for baking started during her teenage years, but it wasn't until the Covid pandemic that she turned her hobby into a profession. She started small by offering a few items for local pickup in Elk Grove, but word quickly spread, and she began receiving orders from all over the area. Dina worked tirelessly to keep up with demand, constantly striving to improve her craft. As the pandemic continued, she expanded her menu and asked her mother to help. Now in Vallejo, Dina's bakery has become a staple in her community, and she's excited for the future.
