With an art background as a professional painter, Kellie Velasquez attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to hone her baking and pastry skills. After her first year in school, she sought out the opportunity to work with world renowned Cake Designer, Maggie Austin, where she developed her fundamental skills with wedding cakes and design. After completing the prestigious baking and pastry arts degree program at CIA, she held positions at some of San Francisco’s top bakeries, including Craftsman & Wolves, Susie Cakes, and most recently Pastry Chef at the popular Jane on Larkin.

Palette Cakes offers artfully inspired desserts to the Greater Sacramento Area, Bay Area and Beyond. All design is individually tailored to the client's unique style and taste. Our product utlizes the best local ingredients and the final product is as delicious as it is beautiful.

    Kellie was amazing, from the moment I reached out to her she was responsive, helpful, enthusiastic, and just such a dream to work with. Not only did she make a beautiful and delicious cake, but at the last minute we were also able to put in an order of shortbread for our coffee bar. Guests are still talking about how tasty it was. I cannot recommend Kellie enough for any couples in NorCal.

    Palette Cakes was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From our very first interaction, they were attentive, patient and truly understood our vision. Their communication style put us at ease throughout the planning process. The quality of their work was simply outstanding - the cake was not only delicious, but also beautifully crafted and uniquely designed. They even came through for us with a last-minute add-on of custom mini cookies, which our guests raved about. Palette Cakes completely understood our style and helped set everything up seamlessly at the venue, taking one less stress off our plate on the big day.     Not only was our cake absolutely stunning, with sugar flowers that no one believed were not real, but it was also GLUTEN FREE!! Kellie was so easy to work with from the very start, with prompt emails and clear communication. We relied entirely on her artistry to design the cake and her art was one of the top hits of our wedding. Highly, highly recommend!!!

    Kellie is not only an incredible baker but a superb artist as well. We first had her cakes at a friends wedding a little over a year before we got married, and knew from the moment, we tasted it that we were going to need her to make our cake as well. The process of working with Kellie was incredibly easy and super fun. She truly cares about all of her clients. She even hand-delivered our cake on our wedding day and stuck around to watch a bit as we took some pictures, it was just a super sweet touch that made the process feel really personal. We can’t wait to have her bake other goodies for big events in our future!
