​The barn has been built from the ground up by Craig Carpenter, his brother Timmy Carpenter and other family and friends. Many of the trees use to build the barn were harvested from their property and were prepared at their saw mill on site. The idea for a wedding venue began was a dream of their daughter, now Zimmerwald's Estate manager Katie Carpenter White. What began as a simple dream and a sketch on a piece of notebook paper, has now become a reality. We are extremely excited to be a place where beautiful family memories can be made and couples can begin their happily ever after!

Our climate-controlled indoor space is charming yet spacious and is complemented by our breathtaking outdoor areas. Everywhere you look there are indoor and outdoor amenities to create an amazing event with very little effort. Featuring two dressing rooms, two bathrooms with multiple stalls each, coat closet, prep kitchen with rear access, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, indoor and outdoor bars, outdoor deck, and 3 ceremony sites. The Emerald Woods is a beautiful historic venue in Western North Carolina hosting weddings, small personal retreats and private gatherings.
