Hi! My name is Sophia Gouirand and I currently live in Orange County. I have been baking ever since I was a little girl satisfying the sweet tooth of my family and friends. I always had a passion for baking, but catering for my friend’s baby shower made me realize I wanted to turn baking into more than just a hobby. Baking gave me the fulfillment I could not find elsewhere.

Simply Spun began as a passion project during the pandemic when my sister and I wanted to bring delicious, homemade desserts to people’s doorsteps. What started as a creative outlet quickly became my full-time calling after I graduated from San Diego State with a degree in nutrition and food science. Now, weddings have become our favorite part of the business! Whether it’s crafting a stunning wedding cake or curating a personalized dessert table, we love bringing each couple’s vision to life.

I started baking in my early teens for fun. Home-style baking at first, then training in my cousin's bakeries in Solvang, California. Welcome. I opened Cakewalk Desserts in 2010, as a side project after working in interior Design for several years. It turned out to be my passion!
