The structure and its unique intimacy were the trend in movie houses. Intentionally built in an African American neighborhood and focused on African American films, from the 1920’s into the 1960’s, The Strand was a vibrant part of the community. Unfortunately, as with many small businesses, it ran into trouble and has sat dormant since that time. Not anymore – FFFG is bringing its penchant for emerging neighborhoods and its hospitality pedigree to the Strand. We are excited to be part of the rich and continuing history of Washington DC!

Based on the tradition of raised barns, the structure has a vibe from years long passed.
