Alpenglow Gardens

5.0

  • Starts at $700
  • Serves Death Valley, CA

I’m Jacky Surber, owner and farmer-florist. I’m a homesteader at heart and I find immense joy in trying to live and work in harmony with nature. At Alpenglow Gardens we are passionate about providing locally grown flowers that are both gorgeous and sustainable, from seed to bouquet. We are committed to non-toxic farming and environmentally-friendly design practices that generate less waste and have a lighter carbon footprint. Our home and farm is taking root on land that has been home to the Paiute and Shoshone people since time immemorial. Payahuunadü means "land of the flowing water" and we are doing our best to respect the land.

I'm really specific about my flower styles and Jacky is amazing and talented. She has a beautiful aesthetic and she grows all her own flowers, which makes it that much better. She'll take what's in season and your color palette/requests, and come up with something beyond your expectations. I have had the best experience with Jacky. I hope people in the Eastern Sierra spread the word about her, she is by far the best florist I've ever worked with. I always look out for her bouquets at Pupfish Cafe and any photos from the weddings she's worked on. She does work from bouquets to arrangements to wedding services like centerpieces, archway pieces, etc. so she covers the whole span of flower needs. I can't recommend her enough!

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

4.8

  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Death Valley, CA

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

I ordered the "peaches and cream" small package. We decided to skip on ceremony florals, and only have handhelds and bud vases at the reception. We did buy a few more flowers from the grocery to add more peach once the flowers arrived. We made and medium sized bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 corsages, and 7 bouts. (With lots of flowers left over). My bridesmaids and I did the arranging the morning before the wedding; it was fun, and a great start to the weekend. None of us had experience, but it all turned out great! If you or your bridal party are mildly crafty, I'd highly recommend it!

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

The Faux Bouquets were an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. Their communication was quick and simple, and they were always responsive to any questions or requests we had. The quality of their work was truly high quality and gorgeous - the bouquets, boutonnières, and beautiful floral arrangements they created for our arch were stunning and exceeded our expectations. They worked closely with us to achieve the exact look and feel we wanted for our wedding florals. The Faux Bouquets are amazing and we highly recommend them to any couple looking for beautiful, top-notch floral pieces for their special day!

Bloom Culture: Do-it-Yourself Wedding Flowers was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the very first inquiry, their communication was prompt, kind, and professional. They answered all of my specific questions with personal responses, making the DIY flower process so easy and stress-free. The quality of their work was consistent, thorough, and truly showed how much they cared about making our day special. We saved so much money going the DIY route with Bloom Culture, and it allowed us to create so many wonderful memories putting the arrangements together with our wedding party. I highly recommend Bloom Culture to any couples looking for a reliable, affordable, and caring florist for their wedding. I wanted to do my own flowers to honor my grandmother who was a florist. She passed a few months before the wedding and I just know she would have absolutely loved it and we got to honor her in this way.

They were easy to book a consult with, listened to every single thing I wanted, put it all into their online portal where I could upload inspo photos too, and sent a quote over quickly! They also easily adjusted it for me when I changed my mind on a few things. Payment was easily made online, and I was able to make changes up until a week out. Everything was delivered on time and exactly as expected on the day of! The bouquets and arch turned out exactly as I had imagined them! They were able to provide tips for the garlands and loose flowers, and overall were very easy to work with, provided everything I wanted, and everything turned out beautiful! They were reasonably priced compared to competitors in the area as well. I would recommend them to other brides! :)

Karen and her team made our floral dreams come true. Karen was not only our florist but one of our number one cheerleaders. Getting married during a pandemic was no easy feat but she stayed positive, supportive, and followed us to three different venues. On the day of the wedding Karen and her team not only set up the ceremony but they stayed and transformed our ceremony location into our reception site. The entire day was executed perfectly and exactly how we had always dreamed. I am extremely grateful we were able to work with Karen and her team for our special day, it truly would not have been the same with out them!
