Photographs always made me curious. The stories behind the photo often sparked ideas for my book writing. Being a 90's baby I grew up using Kodak film, my moms point-and-shoot, and polaroid. My love of this art grew and I bought my first Canon when my oldest was 3. For awhile I captured our family growing, memories, a few newborns here and there, and brand content. In 2020, I began capturing life through the lens for others. It brought beauty back to my heart, and independence to my life as a mom. When I shot my first wedding I became absolutely hooked and knew I wanted to capture more of those memories for your future generations to cherish.

I’m Melissa, founder and main photographer for Melissa Diane Photography. I fell in love with photography after I shot and processed my first roll of film in my high school darkroom. I started to see the world through my viewfinder, noticing the subtle beauty of light and creating compositions in my head. After my first year of art school at VCU, I knew I wanted to study photography and make it my profession.
