Marty Nightengale - DJ. MC. Entertainer.

5.0

Chapel Hill, NC
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,400
  • Serves Camden, NC

Your wedding deserves a packed dance floor and a fun & stress-free experience from a top industry professional! I know planning a wedding can be a lot; let me make music the easiest part for you. I’ve been creating memorable experiences for over 17 years; where I shine is matching the music to your vibe while also reading the crowd, using real DJ transitions to keep the dance floor energy up, interacting with the crowd, and working with all the other vendors to keep the event running smooth. Plus, I offer a 100% refund if you're not satisfied!

We couldn't be happier with Marty at our recent wedding! From start to finish, he exceeded our expectations in every way. First and foremost, his attention to detail is amazing -- he noticed a discrepancy between the couple introduction song that we had put in the Vibo app versus what our day of coordinator had on her wedding timeline. He then reached out to the day of coordinator to figure out which song was correct. He also took the time to understand what we were looking for for our cocktail hour and wedding reception. He reached out many times prior to our wedding to check in with us and make sure that all of our questions were answered. It was clear that he genuinely cares about providing a memorable experience. Marty is also flexible. Originally the plan was for our dance floor to be outside. However, due to a heat wave we ended up deciding to move the dance floor inside. Marty was able to easily accommodate this request and he also offered to put speakers outside so guests who were out on the deck would still be able to hear the music. We also recommend going with the up-lighting. He did a great job setting up the lights. The lights actually change colors and really change the vibe of the reception room once the party gets started! The live music he delivered during cocktail hour was a standout of the night. We had so many compliments from guests about his cocktail hour performance. Another aspect that truly set Marty apart was his willingness to go above and beyond. Not only did he do a great job reading the vibe of the room in order to keep the dance floor lively, but at one point he also helped with cleaning up dinner plates. He showed a level of dedication and professionalism that's rare to find. Marty played a crucial role in making our wedding a success. We highly recommend him for any occasion!

Emerald Empire Band is AWESOME because there are so many choices of instruments and artists. We worked with the producer, Ward, who made great song suggestions and we were able to stay within our budget. The #1 priority for our wedding was a super fun and energetic band with a variety of songs that all ages would enjoy. Ward made this happen! Guests of all ages were out dancing during the ENTIRE reception. My uncle said he couldn't remember the last time he danced so much! Guests sang & danced until the very end. There was a perfect mix of songs & energy for our crowd. We had so many guests and staff at the wedding come up to us saying that was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding. They couldn't believe the enthusiasm of the band. On a side note, they were also very timely and professional. We couldn't have asked for anything better!

jB JAMS Entertainment & Events

5.0

Gainesville, GA
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,399
  • Serves Camden, NC

jB JAMS excells in providing romantic, personal, fun and memorable wedding celebrations with your wishes in mind! We will work together to create your ULTIMATE wedding day using your wishes and visions combined with our extensive wedding experience!

I was the bride that wanted to cut corners and do it myself. I am so glad my father booked Sue even though I protested. Upon our first meeting, I realized what all goes into a wedding MC and DJ and that I would NOT have been able to do it myself. Sue saw I didn't have a clue and effortlessly took over the reigns and the pressure from my shoulders. jB Jams has received many awards in their field and there is a reason, they are professional, catering, and have great relations with the venues in our area, which is a huge help. Sue was very familiar with my venue and my wedding coordinator and they were able to work together easily and saved me so much hassle. Sue sent me a survey to complete and in turn used those answers to totally cater the wedding to us and our love story. I was adamant I did not want a typical, cheesy, cringey, boring wedding and Sue delivered! From helping us with the processional, to the announcements, the games, and the music-my 28 person wedding (Covid!) was my total dream wedding and she is a big reason for that. Sue really gave us special attention and care, by the end she felt like family! All my guests (including some wedding crashers) loved our wedding and raved about it. My family looks forward to working with jB Jams again the next time we have an event. Book 'em! The best money you will spend on your wedding.

The "Original" Moonlighters ®

3.7

Washington, DC
  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $2,000
  • Serves Camden, NC for additional fees

Since 1990, The Moonlighters ® have been performing throughout the U.S. as one of the country’s best-loved and most authentic Motown and variety dance bands, covering all your Jazz/Blues/Oldies/Motown/Soul/Disco/Funk/Classic Rock/Pop favorites! Just close your eyes and you’ll swear the original artists are performing. But don’t close them for too long or you won’t be able to enjoy their outstanding dance moves and showmanship.

We're quite saddened by their google review, posted even before we had a chance to actually speak with them to clear up several serious inaccuracies. Our band has HUNDREDS of positive online reviews/satisfied wedding clients. And we'll always accept valid criticism. But this one is mostly false and unfair. As Zola does not provide the option for responding to negative reviews, the following are our comments: 1. Since the bride and groom hadn't hired a wedding planner everything was extremely disorganized as we received their timeline just one week prior to the event, but then they changed it twice more, including two days before. Despite asking for our bandleader's phone #, the groom never reached out to discuss any of these details. In other words, we were given minimal direction in regard to all of the last-minute changes. Even on the wedding day itself, our band was asked to set and reset their equipment multiple times because the bride and groom disagreed with the onsite coordinator's floor plan, moving/resetting the bride and groom table as well! 2. According to what the photographer told us, the bride and groom's limo driver was over 90 min. late, shifting the entire timeline and putting them in a bad mood from the very beginning, as noticed by our bandleader at around 5:15pm when he first introduced himself, prior to the band providing either live or recorded music. 3. Regarding the recorded music, it was only lacking for approx. 45 min. as the band discovered the phone battery issue at approx. 7:45pm, during their first break, quickly rectifying the situation by putting the phone on a charger and then continuing with the recorded music outside from approx. 8-10pm. Furthermore, they made up for it by keeping their system running for an extra 30 min., beyond our contracted time of 11pm. And those comments regarding the afterparty are also totally untrue as somebody from the band was manning the system, until a cousin of the bride or groom demanded that he use her playlist instead, and then she responded angrily when he finally turned off the system at 11:30pm. 4. As for the band's sound system, we do acknowledge some 'hum' issues as there was just one electrical outlet provided for the entire band, resulting in 'dirty power' which couldn't be fully corrected. And we deeply regret mispronouncing the various names as most were very unfamiliar and of Indian origin, despite our lining up the wedding party in advance and writing everything down phonetically. 5. Even though some of the client's emails mentioned solo keys during cocktails, we provided a duo, covering an extra 30 min. of recorded music from 4:30-5pm at no extra charge, as requested. While it's standard practice for a band to take a dinner break during an almost six hr. event, this was clearly-specified in our contract as well. And then we performed continuously from 8:30-10pm, including most of the requested songs that we had prepared well in advance. So their comments about seemingly just 'walking off a bus' are completely false and misleading. In other words, our musicians went 'above and beyond' in spite of some very challenging circumstances. 6. Fortunately, we did receive a 'happy reaction' with a crowded dance floor and TONS of compliments from the guests, some requesting pictures w/the band too, while even the bride and groom were singing along and dancing non-stop, which we were VERY happy to see, making their negative review even more surprising though!
