Full stop, you need to have your wedding at Bad Seed. Not only is it a stunning location with a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space (get married/take photos in a literal apple orchard, and party it up inside a modern-with-tons-of-charm taproom) but Devin and his team were incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process. They answered our questions quickly, and were extremely flexible and helpful the week of our wedding. We were able to bring up boxes earlier in the week, set up the day before our wedding, and had private access to the grounds/taproom on our wedding day. As a queer couple, we also loved that Bad Seed partners with Big Gay Hudson Valley year-round, so we already knew they would be a queer-affirming space and our wedding day was no different. Everyone we spoke to / worked with helped make our wedding a magical experience.

Words cannot even begin to describe how wonderful Mountainville Manor is. We got married there November of this year (2020) and we’ve been planning with them since the summer. Every step of the way Lauren and James have been so helpful. They try to accommodate every part of your dream wedding. You can’t beat their all inclusive microwedding packages! So much is included leaving you with much less to plan and much less stress! The food is amazing and the chef will accommodate your food allergies and preferences. (My husband still talks about how amazing the salmon was.) The chef even made a delicious special vegan dish for me for the big day. The cake was beautiful and tasty. It looked better than we envisioned. Waitstaff and bartender were so attentive and nice. Everything was perfect. Thanks to Lauren, James, and their team. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much!

Hey! I'm Nina. I'm a pretty energetic and charismatic person that loves love and enjoys life. Documenting through photo is my favorite thing on this planet. I've been a professional photographer since 2016 but really I've been invested in photography since I was 15 years old. My love for documenting moments came from a desire to capture my own life and that of my friends using disposable cameras, flip phone cameras and point and shoot digital cameras on beach trips with friends. I have used writing, art, and photo to document my life and it is an incredibly special thing to be able to share that with my clients.

Here With You Photography

5.0

  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,900
  • Serves Big Indian, NY

Rebecca has been working as a professional photographer for over 10 years. She began with a small film camera, taking photos at her favorite concerts. As she grew, so did her unique style and her passion. She attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Ca. and obtained a BA in Advertising Photography. Over the past 10 years she has had the opportunity to photograph events in places such as Portland, Or., San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Monterey, Ca., Washington DC, Florida and now New York City. She frequently travels for her photography and loves every moment.

Where do I begin... When I first started looking for a photographer I had a certain vision in mind. I didn't want the typical posed pictures for engagement/wedding pictures. I wanted someone whose work stood out and was unique. I emailed Becca as soon as I came across her work hoping she had our wedding date opened. She did! I think after like two emails back and forth I booked her, I knew she was the photographer for us, super chill and laid back. When we first met for our engagement pictures I was super nervous, my husband and I aren't photogenic at all, and personally I feel like pictures are awkward. Becca is a natural, I felt like I was hanging out with a long lost friend and she made us both feel beyond comfortable. She got our pictures back to us within a week and we were OBSESSED! Fast forward to our wedding day... Becca and her assistant Raven went above and beyond... No words can explain how happy we are with our albums. I can't wait for our future photo sessions together!

We worked with Morgan for our wedding at Buttermilk and were so impressed with how smoothly our day went. Literally had a perfect wedding day. We also booked the Riverknoll house for most of the wedding party and stayed at Pony's Pad. Both were beautiful, clean, comfy, and offered stunning spaces and light for the photography. Our wedding was mid November and were so lucky with how perfect the weather was and how beautiful all the greenery looked. The grounds at Buttermilk Falls are truly so beautifully maintained. I still can't believe how lucky we were. Thank you to Morgan, and everyone at Buttermilk Falls for going above and beyond our expectations for our wedding day.

I’m obsessed with Sasha! She’s a true visionary. I had a vision and I let her run with it and she truly executed it ten fold. I’m a chef and I wanted fruits and vegetables incorporated into my florals. She accomplished this design in the most classy and elegant way. There were mushrooms, kale, radish, gooseberries and so much more and my guests loved it and found it so unique. It was all in a beautiful jewel tone palate and matched the vibe of my wedding venue to the T. The florals that she used were so vibrant and unique as well, there were even hollographic flowers (anthurium) from a specialized flower house. Above and beyond! My bouquet was the prettiest bouquet I’ve ever seen and guests kept on telling me how impressed they were with my florals and how they were so Eva. Sasha captured me so well and my passion for flowers and food. You will not regret working with Sasha, she is a true force, so talented, communicative and caring.

She made me feel so loved and confident on my wedding day and I truly so grateful for her makeup services and her friend Kaelyn's hair services. I will go so far as to say we have continued a relationship outside of my wedding and I currently see her as my hair stylist - she's spectacular in every aspect! You will not regret working with Gill. If I could recommend her to everyone, I definitely will. (** For reference, I had a variety of skin tones in my wedding party and though I was a little worried considering there's not a TON of ethnicity around our parts, Gill did not shy away from making them all beautiful! She was awesome, and I will go back to her every time I need a service.)

The details provided upfront gave the most comprehensive understanding of everything this venue would include for the wedding day. We booked our wedding date 2 years in advance. We quickly found our photographer, Sam June who has shot numerous weddings at RMV as a preferred vendor. Throughout the whole wedding planning process, Amy VanDetta was incredible at answering countless answers and emails. She was a joy to correspond with. Her kindness, thoroughness and professionalism was always noticed. In our final walk through with Gary, we were put at ease knowing we were in such good hands. Gary always made us feel special as the bride and groom. The entire RMV staff was so warm and inviting, our matrid’ Liz and bridal attendant Angela were both incredible, top star service all around. Our guests RAVED about the food, especially impressed by the cocktail hour passed hors d'oeuvres. Although our wedding day had torrential rain, we were blown away by how special Plan B worked for the ceremony. The entire venue has so many beautiful areas and we felt very lucky there was plenty of indoor space for all our guests to enjoy during all the rain. We look forward to enjoying RMV and RMV Cellars into the future during public events! It feels really special to be part of the RMV family as we began our next chapter as husband and wife.

Every Little Detail Wedding & Event Planning

5.0

  • Planner
  • Offers 3 services
  • Starts at $7,977
  • Serves Big Indian, NY

Owners Danielle DeFreest and Matt Marvullo opened Every Little Detail in the spring of 2012 with one goal in mind- to create pure and unique moments that are unforgettable. Danielle started out in the service industry as a teenager, and after graduating with a master’s degree in special education, decided to continue her career in service. Matt spent 24 years in the service industry, catering weddings and galas under master-chefs at 5 star venues throughout the country. In 2013 they asked long-time friend Kayla to help them at a wedding, and by the time the reception ended she realized she absolutely loved it. She is now a co-owner.

Danielle from Every Little Detail was amazing and contributed to the absolute success of the most perfect wedding day. We hired Danielle as a partial planner after deciding (thank goodness) that we could not plan a wedding ourselves. Danielle was there every step of the way. She tended to be 2 steps ahead of us. Ahead of the wedding she'd reach out and ensure we were on track. ELD provided an amazing online tool that contributed to this success to track costs, plan seating, and keep all of our wedding documents in one place. Danielle helped us find some amazing vendors and was especially key in the 60 days ahead of the wedding, finalizing details, coordinating with vendors, and providing great details into what we should expect and prepare for. Day of ELD was even more amazing. The venue said ELD was one of the best planning companies they ever worked with - extremely on top of everything and so seamlessly coordinating every detail (no pun intended!). Every Little Detail was a joy to work with and they helped us create and execute a magical and truly perfect wedding day. I could not recommend them more.

Hello! My name is Christine and I love weddings. I have been photographing weddings since 2005 and the more I do it, the more I love it. I also love chocolate, binge-worthy television and Betty White so much, I named my dog after her.

Our wedding weekend was one of the most special times in our lives thus far, and Christine was such a huge part of that! We're New Yorkers who got married in Vermont, and Christine had hired a second shooter from that area. Although she'd coordinated with the other photographer over the phone, they only met in person for the first time the day of the wedding. We were so taken with how well they worked together, and a big part of that is due to how great Christine is with people. Whether she was photographing us as we got ready, or she was rallying all of the guests into a single shot after the ceremony, Christine worked seamlessly. She's funny and charming and knows how to get the shots she needs. She makes the whole operation look effortless, and she'll definitely put you at ease on your big day. We were so happy with our pictures in the end! They look great and really capture the magic we felt that day.

Beauty by Jhori

  • Beauty professional
  • Starts at $500
  • Serves Big Indian, NY

Jhori Jurgenson is a certified makeup artist with over six years in the makeup industry. Immediately following her first month of makeup certification at the Austin School of Spa Technology in 2016, she was hired to work on the Lifetime movie ‘Derailed.’ Following her break into the film circuit, she has worked on several productions and commercial shoots, including ‘The Pretenders’ directed by James Franco, and continues to work on film productions that are filmed in the Hudson Valley.

Jhori was one of the first vendors I booked for my October wedding - I don't typically wear a lot of makeup so was nervous going in as I wanted to make sure I looked like myself. Jhori's down to earth nature made me feel instantly calm, and she listened to exactly what I wanted and even made some tweaks after my trial that we talked about. Working with Jhori was seamless and enjoyable. Both my bridesmaids and I were blown away by her beautiful work. I highly recommend her!

I like to find beauty in the balance between the shadows and the light. They are rarely inseparable. They are complex and totally opposite and yet they can not live without the other. Just like real connection. What is real is beautiful. Only love is real. Your wedding day is important. To you. To your families. To me. And I don’t take it lightly. I understand that you’ve never done this before and you may not even know where to start! Don’t worry- I got you!

Sam was the first vendor we booked. From the moment I saw her photos I knew I absolutely needed her for our day. From our very first call, there was an instant connection and I knew she was going to be so much more than my wedding photographer. We just spoke the same language. Throughout the entire planning process she was a guiding light, helping us with the timeline and prioritizing how we wanted the day to feel. On the day itself, she kept everything on even ahead of schedule and worked expertly around the rain! She kept me calm, protected my space, and allowed us to be fully present with our people. There was no painful posing or forced smiles, only genuine joy and captured experience. Sam is worth her weight in GOLD. One month later, people are still telling me how much they loved her. If you can get Sam, book her and don't look back. I truly could not have imagined our wedding day without her!

Rob Charles Photography

My name is Robenson Charles, and I am a Haitian born, Brooklyn raised portrait and event photographer from New York. What I do involves the best thing in the world and that's to captivate cherishable moments of life, love, and memories through photography. During this new transition in my life, I learned that photography isn't something you "do", it's something you grow into and boy did it grow! Each day I learned new techniques, researched any information on photography, and took part in classes to strengthen my skills. As a result, this new insight was birthed off of how I visualize the world's most intimate moments and turn it into art.

Rob was sooo amazing! Long story short, we hired him for our wedding but we ended up moving our states wedding to destination. We asked if we can put our deposit towards an engagement shoot instead. He did such an amazing job and he was so prepared day of. He bought his equipment and even a DRONE!! We went to two locations, the American Museum of Natural History and the Castle on the Upper West side of Central Park. He let us be us but also posed us. We felt at ease and taken care of. He sent us back the photos pretty quickly too! 11/10 recommend!!

I don’t think I can truly explain or fit into a review how amazing Kris with unKAGed events is! We hired Kris because this was a destination wedding for us and we needed help with locating vendors and wanted to feel like we had someone that we could work with in the area that was familiar with the industry and able to coordinate day of for us. I had my initial call with Kris and immediately felt comfortable and listened to with any questions or concerns I had with planning. She offered us different vendors for catering, rentals, dj and cake. She setup up tastings and meetings with all vendors making sure we felt comfortable and confident with every vendor we went with. Kris went above and beyond being CCd on every email and on every call. She provided quick and accurate information throughout the planning process. We ran into issues with our venue along the way and Kris was right there beside us helping us and working through it. What can feel like the chaos of wedding planning we knew we could trust her and rely on her. When it came to day of as a bride it’s hard to feel like you don’t have full control over your day. However trusting Kris after working with her leading up to the big day I knew she was going to do all she could to bring my vision to life and make the best decisions for our wedding. She did just that! I can’t put into words how much she did for us - from all the work leading up, rehearsal, setting up ceremony site, setting up cocktail hour, setting up the reception tables and seating chart and then breaking it all down after - she truly does it all!! I knew I was hiring someone to help us along the way and for the day of our wedding what I didn’t know is I was hiring someone who would care about us the way she did.

Hi, I'm Lisa Bettencourt! Since 2014, I have been working as a professional photographer, from dance competitions, to headshots, press events, engagements, weddings, corporate, and picture day in NYC public schools. But no matter where my career has taken me, my favorite moments have always been about capturing love and togetherness. As your wedding photographer, I promise a relaxed, fun, and creative atmosphere, making sure you feel confident and at ease in front of the camera. My goal is to deliver stunning visuals that will exceed your expectations, all while being mindful of your budget. I know firsthand how expensive weddings can be!

Working with Lisa was an absolute dream! She was extremely communicative, so fun and professional, and she brought tremendously positive energy to our wedding day. We hired Lisa to photograph our engagement in NYC and again for our wedding in the Hudson Valley this past fall. We were so happy with our engagement shoot that it was a no brainer that we wanted to work with her again. I can't express this enough: Lisa was AMAZING. She gave us photo previews the literal day after our wedding (which were INCREDIBLE) and I'm sure I'll be singing more praises when we receive the full album. Her artistic eye brings such a unique and romantic touch to each photo, it's like looking at cinematic movie stills. Long story short, Lisa does more than just capture beautiful images. She put everyone at ease with her confidence, bubbly, warm personality. Even some of our guests commented on how great she was and asked for her card to work with her in the future! To summarize, Lisa is lovely, extremely talented, and exactly the person you want with you on wedding day.

The Arnold House

5.0

Livingston Manor, NY
  • Venue
  • Up to 200 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $25,000

Plan your dream Wedding Weekend with us at The Arnold House, nestled in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, a mere 2-hour drive from New York City. Elevating the art of weddings into a three-day celebration of love, The Arnold House redefines the wedding experience, offering a personalized approach tailored to you. Our curated wedding weekends are available for every season and designed for couples who yearn for more than just a single day of festivities. Peak season is considered mid May through the end of October and requires a minimum of 120 guests and a maximum of 200 guests. Off peak season is considered November through Mid May with a maximum of 90 guests. At The Arnold House, we don't just host weddings; we create a celebration that spans all weekend long.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Both indoor and outdoor options
  • Rustic charm with elegance
  • Has an energetic and exciting atmosphere

Venue considerations

  • No free parking
  • Not for you if you don't want a rustic vibe
  • Not wheelchair accessible
We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. The Arnold House encompasses everything we wanted for our wedding weekend - the charm and warmth of the Catskills, a low maintenance energy with high quality offerings, and a versatile venue where each space felt uniquely different (even if we had to use the same room twice...cue cold weather and rain!) to make each night feel like its own unique experience and special moment. Working with the Arnold House: From the start, they were so flexible on making sure that what was important to us worked. For example, we had preferences on specific food and wines and the AH team made it so easy to swap (and even source!) what we wanted. This team has an incredible ability to transform each space into a beautiful one, from the spreads they put out, the greenery they pick as decor, the furniture they arrange, and all the small touches in between that matter...we are so impressed. Additionally, they were helpful to make our guest experience the best possible - accommodating special requests and just generally being warm and inviting people. Lastly, the Arnold House itself is always continuing to add and improve their offerings. So we were met with nice surprises throughout our wedding planning process. For example we got to benefit from new chairs and dinner tables, something we no longer had to think about renting. The Space and Food: Wow! Our band and dance party in the greenhouse was pure magic. And our sit down dinner in the barn was beautiful and romantic. At first we were a bit concerned about having the dance party in a separate room from dinner - but it worked out really well and actually was nice to let those who wanted to dance, dance, and those who wanted to sit and chat be able to easily do that too. We didn’t get to eat much (even though we swore we wouldn’t be those people) but our guests all said the food was great and we can say for certain that we loved the burrata, oysters, trout drip, flank steak, and pumpkin pie!! Friday was intimate and inviting in Shandelee Hall/the Sun Room with the fire burning and the wine flowing. Wood fired pizzas were perfect. The Tavern: It’s own unique experience and space - unique from everywhere else on the property. Pool table and “divey-ish” vibes - a perfect setting for junk food and afterparty. Sunday brunch was simply gorgeous in the greenhouse. Food was simple, but good, and displayed beautifully. Overall: As you can tell from this being the first review, this place feels like a really well kept secret. Having now had our wedding here, we want to shout how great the Arnold House is from the rooftop. If you’re reading this right now, trust us… make the call and visit the Arnold House! Emily and the whole team were fantastic and made our weekend feel really special. The Arnold House will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you team Arnold House for the most wonderful wedding weekend.

The hair she did was absolutely flawless and lasted throughout the entire event (and still looked good when we woke up the next day). Baylee looked at photos of what everyone wanted and asked detail oriented questions to get the look exactly right. She was very calm fun to work with. Prior to the wedding and throughout the booking process she was accessible and easy to work with. Baylee kept us on schedule and made sure everyone was comfortable with their hair. I am committed to making all clients look and feel their best. My goal is to help you achieve your vision for bridal hair and have you looking and feeling like the most beautiful version of yourself day of.

Jennifer was incredible - if you’re looking for a very reliable, extremely talented hair stylist for your wedding day, look no further. Jennifer was amazing throughout the entire process- she heard me out on everything that I wanted for my wedding day hair, she answered my one million questions, she did (both) styles I wanted during our trial, and she gave me the wedding hair of my dreams. On top of all of this - she traveled from the hotel where we were getting ready to my venue and did hair touchups throughout the first look and photos, and then transitioned my hair style from down to up between the ceremony and reception. This service was such a game changer for me - it was a humid day so having pre-ceremony touchups was amazing - and having my hair up for the reception and dancing was ideal. Jennifer is truly the best and also so fun to be around on wedding day. I can’t thank her enough!!

I don’t know which was better, the ease of working with Allan and his wife or quality of the food? Both were amazing. The charcuterie station seemed to go on forever. There was something for everyone and Allan took into account dietary restrictions. Along with the charcuterie station there were salads as well as the main courses. They offered great selections and advice on what dishes would go best with the others. They also offered suggestions to cut down on the already economical prices. I would HIGHLY recommend Events and Weddings by Allan for all of your catering needs.

Swoon Kitchenbar

5.0

  • Caterer
  • Starts at $10,000
  • Serves Big Indian, NY

At Swoon Kitchenbar we believe in eating locally and seasonally as much as possible so that we can provide you with the freshest ingredients available. All of our food is sourced from local farms and growers and is organic whenever possible. Each menu we create is unique and designed specifically for your event with your wants and needs in mind.

If not for Swoon, we probably would not have had our wedding celebration, nor would it have been a memorable one. Amy from Swoon saved us-- twice! Two months before our wedding celebration, we encountered major issues with our original caterer who was lacking in transparency and responsiveness. Amy, on the other hand, was incredibly professional and communicative when we contacted her to see if Swoon could provide our food and bar services at the last minute. It was a miracle that Swoon was able to accommodate our request. I guess it was meant to be! Amy was super organized and made everything easy in the midst of us feeling frenzied from the mess that our initial caterer created. She went above and beyond throughout the process, coordinating with the equipment rental company, setting us up with a few tastings when we visited the Swoon restaurant for lunch (everything was AMAZING), and she even responded promptly while she was out of the country on vacation! Everything was upfront regarding pricing and options, and the options looked so amazing that it was hard for us to choose! On the day-of, my husband and I were luckily able to eat during our celebration (the staff so graciously prepared plates for us) and we were impressed by how beautifully prepared and displayed everything was, from the passed appetizers and pre-plated salad to the buffet style dinner and dessert. Everything was so fresh! We were most notably surprised by how juicy the meat was. It is evident that the Swoon team takes the time to carefully craft their dishes. I can remember eating dinner that night while my father-in-law was discussing brunch for the next day, which Amy also helped schedule for us (this is the second time she saved us-- exactly what happens when your in-laws are last-minute planners)! Brunch at Le Perche, Swoon’s sister restaurant, was excellent as well. Go with Swoon if you want phenomenal food and service. We couldn’t have done it without them!

We have been performing as a band since 2003, when Jordan Shapiro formed the band with some close musician friends in Brooklyn, NY. Since then, the band has performed at hundreds and hundreds of concerts, weddings, festivals, parties, kids birthday parties, and various other kinds of family oriented events. We have an extensive songlist of over 300 songs, drawing from all styles of music, including traditional folk/bluegrass, as well as classic rock, pop, jazz and country. The band has also released 3 full length albums of original music, ranging from progressive bluegrass/newgrass instrumentals to goofy kids songs.

All of our guests commented that the music at our wedding was lovely and really tied the whole event together. Our venue did not allow DJ's or amplified sound and Astrograss had no problem playing everything acoustically. They were really great communicating before our event. They learned 5 songs at our request and let us pick plenty others for them to play from their extensive repertoire. They even coordinated with our friend (who is a singer) who wanted to sing something for us which ended up being one of the highlights of the night.

The Bird and Bottle Inn was the perfect fairytale setting for our wedding. From the beginning, there were many emails back and forth to get all the details just right, but the staff was incredibly responsive and professional throughout the entire planning process. But they really shined the day of the wedding. The set-up and ceremony went so smoothly, they made sure everything was taken care of. Even last minute timeline switches like cutting the cake earlier in the night was made easy. We also were able to stay at the inn and get ready there which made things much easier on us. They had our signature drinks, champagne, and food ready and waiting for all the guests as soon as the ceremony was over. I have been to weddings where the entire cocktail hour we were just waiting on line to get a drink, this was perfectly set up. Drinks were also being continually poured and served at an inside and an outside bar, and if you couldn’t make it to the bar there was always a server nearby to help. There was even one server who was assigned just to us, he went above and beyond, always made sure we had anything we needed, always getting us drinks or more food, it was wonderful. And the food… the food was simply amazing - usually wedding food can be boring, or like it was just mass produced and pumped out of the kitchen, but their food was perfect. I am still thinking about the short rib and our guests are still raving about it over a month later. Literally one guest saying it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. And the space is so beautiful, there are so many lovely place for photos, and really makes it seem like you are in an enchanted place. The bridge over the little babbling brook for a first look, the garden ceremony by the pond, the cocktail hour on the patio, are just to name a few of the perfect spots on the property. And having our Photo Booth inside on the velvet couch was a unique touch guests really enjoyed! Not to mention getting our own private cottage to stay in! We also were able to move inside to the bar after the wedding was over with just the couple guests that were staying with us at the Inn and it was a lovely way to wind down after all the festivities were over. The entire team at The Bird and Bottle Inn truly went above and beyond to ensure our special day was everything we dreamed it would be. We couldn't have asked for a more magical venue to celebrate our love
