“I recommend the Kentlands Mansion not only because of its charm but for the easiness it was to work with the staff. This was our first annual Christmas Party and we did not need to bring any additional decorations because the Mansion was beautifully decorated and created a warm holiday feeling for us and our guests. There was plenty of parking which is normally a concern with events but not here. I also liked that when it got a little warm because of dancing that we were able to step out on the canopied porch for some fresh air but was still able to hear the music. Looking forward to another event at the Mansion!”

“When I was looking for a hair and makeup artist, I wanted someone who I felt confident could help me decide the look for my wedding and come up with options for my naturally curly hair. However, I knew the deciding factor would be whether I felt confident that the artist could make every member of my bridal party that was diverse (in terms of race, disability, and LGBTQ) bridal party look and feel beautiful. Carla's portfolio showed me that she really lives her values of inclusion and I booked her with full confidence after our phone consultation the day after my inquiry. She gave me different options for the schedule for either just her or her and a team. I ended up going with the option of her and her team to not start so early and have a more efficient schedule. I was right to place my trust in her and the team she works with! I did a trial a couple weeks before my wedding, which I cannot recommend highly enough. It was definitely one of the most fun experiences of the entire wedding planning process! Carla spent a few hours with me trying different looks based on my inspiration photos and the vibe of my dress. I left so excited and knowing I had options I liked based on how I was feeling and the weather. On my wedding day she and her team were fantastic and executed flawlessly and made everyone comfortable on what was a hectic morning. My mother hadn't worn makeup since her wedding almost 40 years ago. My sister and maid of honor is also autistic with intellectual disabilities and had never worn makeup but wanted to be included (and look like a princess!) Carla and her team (special shoutout to makeup artist Mong!) were so patient and understanding and put them both at ease, which I appreciated so much. My other bridesmaids had a wonderful experience with makeup artist Nas as well. In terms of myself, I can say without question I've never felt more beautiful and glamorous but still myself than I did on my wedding day. Carla came with us to the church and fixed my veil that blew off during my first look and touched up everyone before we walked down the aisle. The look stayed the whole day and my hair held through the dip in our first dance into the after party. Going with Carla for hair and makeup was easily one of the best decisions I made in wedding planning and I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

Super duper friendly, professional and like a good BFF, not afraid to give it to you straight. Highly, highly recommend. P.S.--This was a second wedding for my hubby and I, and it was a very small group. If you figure you don't need a planner because your wedding is going to be intimate, you're wrong. Trust me when I tell you that you still need someone to coordinate with the vendors, make sure the ceremony musicians aren't dead, talk you through a tuxedo crisis, and literally sprint to jump into your officiant's car, who is lost and driving around the mall looking for the venue. ;)”

In our first conversation alone I knew she had a vision, and told her to go with it. The execution was so far above and beyond our expectations that words can't describe it. I loved and really appreciated the thoughtful proposal Uche put together (and changed several times at my annoying requests), but I really couldn't have imagined how beautiful everything would be the day of. We got married at District Winery, and Uche and her team took FULL advantage of the blank canvas-esque space, complete with hanging greenery installations and the most beautiful altar piece I've ever seen. My bouquet was also gorgeous - as were my bridesmaids', and the boutonnieres were amazing. I honestly had friends coming up to me telling me they loved the florals even more than what they had at their own weddings! Not only was the end result day-of perfect, but I know that Uche and her team worked tirelessly to get it done. When we had our rehearsal at the venue the afternoon before, they were there getting a head start (what other wedding vendor would do that!?) I could go on forever about how incredible Uche is (like the fact that she hosted my mom and I at her studio for over an hour to patiently talk through details, even as she was prepping for a big wedding the next day), but the bottom line is that if you want top notch creativity and professionalism all in one, you can't go wrong with Designs by Oochay. One final thing - a friend/guest of ours happened to be a former client of Uche's, and Uche made a specific point to find her at the end of the evening to say hello and give her a hug (which my friend was super excited about), even though it was after midnight and she was trying to disassemble everything - which I thought truly showed how warm and gracious she is, as well as how much her former clients love her!”

“I cannot even express how happy we are to have booked Harrison Films for our wedding!! Before finding them, I was really hesitant about getting a videographer and debated if it was worth the money, but eventually decided we wanted a video to remember the day. After looking at a bunch of their example videos of other weddings on their website, I had a FaceTime call with Deanna and instantly knew I wanted to hire them. From the start Deanna and Grant were incredibly nice, easy to work with, and helpful. Before the wedding day, we went over the schedule and Deanna even created a google doc of the timeline for the entire day that I ended up using to share with all my vendors (photographer, band, etc). On the wedding day, they did an amazing job taking care of everything. They arrived early, helped keep us on schedule so that I never had to worry about the time, and ensured it was an easy, non-stressful day! We wanted to do our first look at the Jefferson memorial because that’s where we got engaged. Little did we know, it was under an insane amount of construction. Somehow, Grant and Deanna found the perfect spots for us to still have our first look and other pictures at the memorial while avoiding all the construction. They stayed the entire night and captured everything and we never had to worry about our time running out with them. Our wedding was Saturday night and by Monday morning they had already sent us a one minute preview video and it is beyond anything I imagined. The full edit was sent a couple months later and it is the most perfect, incredible video I have ever seen. Our wedding was 10 months ago and I watch the wedding video at least once a month. Hiring them was the best wedding decision I made and they are worth every single penny. Even before seeing the preview, on the day of my wedding I was so grateful to have them there and said multiple times to my husband how happy I was to have hired them because they made the day so much easier. If you are going to have a videographer (and trust me, you should) hire Harrison Films!!”
