There are TONS of great restaurants in Positano. For a romantic fine dining experience, you should try Rada Restaurant. It is on the water, and built into a cliff. For lunch, there are also tons of magnificent spots on the beach. Chez Black and L'Incanto are just a few that our wedding planner recommended. For delicious pizza in Positano, (I mean you're in Italy, try the pizza!) try Capricci, which is in the center of town near the church. This pizza place is budget-friendly and offers the perfect place to people watch with a view of the ocean. After you have pizza, head next door to Covo dei Saraceni Hotel for amazing lemon sorbet served inside a whole frozen lemon! Other fine dining options: Zass Restaurant, Ristorante La Sponda, Ristorante Max, La Serra: Hotel Le Agavi. Beautiful views! You can also try: Ristorante Bruno, Casa e Bottega, Ristorante I1 Capitano. Da Paolino Restaurant in Capri is famous for its excellent food and wine served beneath Capri's fragrant lemon trees.
Tour the stunning gardens of our reception venue, visit the animals on the farm, and enjoy a family-style cooking class with mama Dora and papa Luigi! The Path of the Gods or in Italian, “Sentiero degli Dei,” is a spectacular walking trail on the Amalfi Coast that ends in Nocelle, above Positano. The path is almost 5 miles and takes about 3 hours, but it is an easy trail to hike if you walk from Agerola to Nocelle as the route, in this direction, runs downhill with magnificent views of the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri. Justin and I will definitely be doing this one!
See Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello in one day without worrying about driving or parking. Stop for lunch in Conca dei Marini. Round trip transportation from Naples. Naples is about 45 minutes from Positano. From $86 per person.
Sorrento is a town on the northern arm of the Amalfi Coast and is renowned for its beautiful scenery and its range of gorgeous buildings and coastal walks. If you are interested in history, the town also features the Correale Museum and the Museo della Tarsia Lignea- both of which provide some fascinating artifacts and displays.
A trip to the Amalfi Coast would not be complete without a glance from the soaring cliffs of the beautiful town of Ravello. Here you will get a bird's eye view of the coast below. The town was built high above the coast as a refuge from the Barbarians. To this day, artists pay a visit to seek inspiration from Ravello's amazing views.
The Church of Santa Maria or in Italian "Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta" is a picturesque catholic church just a stone's throw from the beach, in the heart of Positano. It is free to enter, and it is worth visiting just to experience the spiritual calm that comes with taking a few minutes out of your day to sit in silence and reflect on how lucky you are to be in such a beautiful spot on earth. Santa Maria Church is open daily from 8am to 12pm and from 4pm to 8pm.
There are a handful of grottos near Positano, including the green grotto, white grotto, and emerald grotto, which are said to be beautiful and can easily be reached by private boat or group tour. You can check out pricing and tour options on Viator.
Capri is not far from Positano, and it only takes about 40 minutes to reach the island by boat. During the summer months, there is a ferry that runs between Positano and Capri in addition to a number of boat tours.
Home of the world's most famous volcanic disaster when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., Pompeii is now a significant archeological site that provides an amazing glimpse into the daily life of an average Roman town over two thousand years ago. The best way to get from Positano to Pompei without a car is to line 5070 bus and line 1 train via Meta which takes 1h 12m and costs €3 - €7. Casey has been to this site before, and she highly recommends visiting!
Make the most of your trip! Your next Italian adventure is just a train ride away with other countries, such as Greece and Croatia, close by! Taking additional trips to other cities, such as Florence, Naples, and Rome, can be manageable with the proper planning. Justin and I will definitely make a stop in Puglia, and if you fly into Rome, we recommend touring the city using none other than My Best Tour Rome (https://mybesttour.com/) -- we recommend Victor for the best experience! Believe it or not, Rome wasn't designed with cars or tour busses in mind, so traveling by golf cart is the most efficient way to see all of the sights in the city. Casey's dad has toured with Victor on multiple occasions, and Casey went on an incredible tour with him in 2016. We highly recommend this route if Rome is on your bucket list, as it is the best way to beat the crowds and see everything on your list if you're on a time-crunch.
Experience the fine wines that Italy has to offer! I will include a link to the top ten Positano wine tastings and wine tours on Viator.
In the village center, there are TONS of cute clothing boutiques, ceramic shops, souvenir shops, and art galleries. Crochet and white linen dresses, tops, and pants can be found everywhere as well as lemon candy, lemon soap, lemon-scented perfume, limoncello, and pretty much anything lemon flavored you could possibly want! Be sure to stop for gelato on your walk through town!
Many people rent scooters in Positano and this is a fun and affordable way to get around. The roads are curvy, narrow, and a bit scary to drive on--so just be careful! I heard Positano Rent a Scooter is a good company to try.
