Getting to Ithaca
There are two main airport options to get to Ithaca. You can fly directly to the Ithaca (ITH) airport, or fly to Syracuse (SYR) airport. Syracuse is an hour away from Ithaca and will require renting a car, but is serviced by all major airlines and generally cheaper than flying directly to Ithaca. Further options include the Binghamton Airport (BGM) and Elmira Airports (ELM). Ithaca is located four hours northwest of New York City. It's an easy drive and there are plenty of bus options leaving NYC every day. When Walter and Mary go to Ithaca, we either take the Cornell bus (when we're feeling flush) or the Ourbus (usually) and find multiple departures in both directions per day.

Getting to the Ceremony & Reception
Taxis and Ubers in Ithaca are available to get to and from the ceremony and reception if you're not staying on or near campus. However, they are limited in number. Leave yourself plenty of time to get to the ceremony if using this option and consider reserving a ride ahead of time. If you want to drive there is parking at the campus parking garage two blocks away from the Statler Hotel (free on the weekends). The Collegetown Cab company takes advanced cab reservations and can be contacted at 607-588-8888 or https://collegetowncab.com/ Ithaca also has a robust bus network, TCAT, and the trip from downtown Ithaca is an easy one! The fare is a $1.50 (exact change only or use the mobile app). https://tcatbus.com/

The Statler Hotel at Cornell University
The Statler is the hotel on Cornell's campus. This is where we will be having our reception. The ceremony will be five minutes walking from this hotel. Best Western University Inn
The Best Western is located outside of the main Ithaca area and about a mile from Cornell's campus. Rooms are reserved for Friday and Saturday night at $199/night and the block will be held until August 20, 2024. This location has a complimentary shuttle back and forth from Cornell's campus that we will align to the ceremony start time. More details to come on the shuttle closer to the event. The Dorm Hotel is located nearby to Cornell Campus and will be within walking distance of the ceremony and reception. (For our Cornell grads who remember this hotel, it's undergone a dramatic renovation since you graduated). To book, call +1 607-319-4611 and refer to the John-Schaefer Wedding. Rooms are reserved for Friday and Saturday evening at $199/night. Rooms are held at this discounted rate until August 31, 2024.

Airbnb is available in Ithaca and has some great options. We recommend staying in Belle Sherman or Fall Creek neighborhoods. Belle Sherman will be within walking distance of the venue and Fall Creek will allow you to explore downtown Ithaca. Please reach out to Mary and Walter if you need recommendations!
