Our Story

Leigha let me write this part :) Allow me to set the scene... Leigha and I officially met on Sunday July 10th, 2022 during a local young adult's social bbq and volleyball night. I typically hadn't gone to events like that, as I still felt new to Boise and the young adult crowd. In the middle of one of the games, I spiked the volleyball and Leigha said to me, "nice hit." Two whole words. I was hooked... Just kidding, I said "thanks!" and continued to play. The next day, I went to the gym after work, walked in, and noticed a cute blonde standing by the water fountain underneath the Planet Fitness sign. I thought to myself, "she looks kind of familiar." After doing a few sets on the cables, I noticed that she had started to hover around the machine that I was using (for the record, I, Leigha, wasn't hovering. He was taking a long time to finish on said machine). Finally I decided to put the rope that I was using away and just so happened to pass her. I took out my earbud and said, "Hi! Were you at the..." and she cut me off and said, "Yes!" We ended up chatting in Planet Fitness for over an hour and a half about our families, school, and our friends. I really had to get her number. I mentioned that my friend Tom had just released a new album and that I would love to share it with her. *wink wink* That following week, Leigha invited me to a volleyball group that met on Tuesday afternoons. After playing for a little bit, we both had to leave early for some reason and Leigha ended up following me out of the neighborhood. I thought it would be funny to swerve over the road and brake check her, as you do... Leigha texted me as I was driving and said, "stop flirting, and drive." I couldn't stop smiling and actually thought to myself, "...damn." Talk about a bold woman! I ended up asking her to go on a walk with me on Wednesday evening. We then also went to the Snake River Stampede (a local rodeo for you out of staters) on Thursday night, and also went to lunch together on Friday afternoon. Since that week, we have pretty much spent most days in each other's company. A year and a half later, we still look forward to seeing each other every day. The crazy thing for me is that after I met Leigha, I realized that we had crossed paths multiple times in the short span that I had been living in Boise. We knew a lot of the same people, and had even gone to two concerts at the same time. I took a selfie at a NeedtoBreathe concert and when I looked later, Leigha was in the picture too. However, the most profound crossing of paths was in May of 2022, just a few months before we officially met. I was a Confirmation sponsor for my cousin, Matthew, and the sacramental mass was at the Cathedral in downtown Boise (that we will be getting married in in September!). It was a joint Confirmation mass between St. John's parish and Sacred Heart parish, the parish that Leigha was a youth minister at. I was sitting in the front row of pews, waiting for mass to begin, when I noticed a beautiful blonde sitting across the church from me. She was sitting by herself and the afternoon light was streaming through the stained glass windows and onto her hair. I thought that she looked like a wife... beautiful dress, styled blonde hair... I actually looked for a ring on her finger and thought I saw one. I have bad vision apparently. Little did I know, I would marrying her in the same church just a little more than two years later. :) Thank you all for sharing in our story and for doing your part, small or large, in helping us find each other. We are thrilled to be entering into Holy Matrimony with each other and hope to see you on our special day in September!
