Patricia and I first met in 2017 at our close friends Olivia and Josh's wedding in Hollister, CA. We didn't know each other and didn’t talk much that day, but she definitely caught my eye. I remember on the way to the wedding my friend Rachel told me “You’re going to think Patricia is so pretty.” She was definitely right! I thought Patricia looked so beautiful in her blue dress. A year or so went by before we met again. This time it was in a taco line where I was able to ask her how she’s been, and most importantly if she was having carne asada or pollo tacos LOL. Fast forward to April 2019 and I’m on Bourbon Street in New Orleans when all of a sudden I get a DM (direct message) on Instagram and behold it’s Patricia... and the rest is history.
Moral of the story: Go after what and who you want ladies!!
Patricia thought we were going to Tulum on an anniversary trip when in reality, it was an engagement trip. Thanks to the help of a few of our closest friends, we were able to make the engagement absolutely perfect. (Shoutout to Jade and Dalin!) I decided to propose the day we arrived in Tulum, but the day didn't go as smooth as the actual engagement because there were a few hiccups along the way. First, when we got to the airport our flight was delayed by 2 hours because the computer system crashed (Pro tip: Don't go for the cheapest flight on an airline you've never flown before LOL). Then, when we landed in Mexico it took over an hour for our luggage to come out at baggage claim. Of course to top it all off, I miscalculated the time it took to get from the airport in Cancun to our hotel in Tulum. Our total time behind schedule at this point was 3-4 hours. I had been secretly messaging my friends who were already at the hotel and the staff who were in charge of setting up the big light up letters. Due to all the curve balls thrown our way, I had the staff move everything from the beach to a different location because we missed the sunset. While Patricia got ready, I made up the excuse that I wanted to go check out the cigar lounge. In reality, I went to go meet the crew who was helping capture the proposal to make sure we had all the angles worked out properly. Once I scoped out the scene and knew exactly where I needed to go, I went back to the room and got Patricia. HANGRY and ready for a cold margarita, but looking absolutely BEAUTIFUL, Patricia and I walked towards the front of the hotel and when we turned the corner there were rose petals in the shape of a heart and huge letters that read 'MARRY ME'. I dropped down to my knee, kind of blacked out and next thing I know, the ring is on Patricia's finger and we're popping champagne. It was truly a magical moment, and something the two of us will always remember.
