Kirsten and Kevin met when they were both Fall Welcome Ambassadors at Western Michigan University. Kirsten’s friend Leah had overheard a boy behind her bragging about having snuck into Western’s new and still being constructed Education building. Kirsten and Leah REALLY wanted to sneak in, but were both adamant rule followers. Naturally, they found the list of ambassadors and phone numbers and used it to look up Kevin’s number so that HE could break the rules and get them in. Leah made Kirsten text him... and that’s how the three of them adventured into Sangren. They quickly became good friends, bonding over sarcastic humor, love of food, comedy, walks around campus, squirrel club, and Taco Bell. They stayed friends for a while. During this “while”, the two became friends with each others circles. Kevin’s friends would relentlessly tease him about texting “this girl” so much. Kirsten's friends wondered why Kevin's apartment looked like an old Applebee's. Finally, in April of 2014, Kevin asked Kirsten to be his girlfriend because he had “never felt this way about anyone”. They spent the next 5 years making fun of each other, traveling on various vacations, bonding with their families, not watching tv shows, and eating lots and lots of food.
