You will see how incredible their flowers are during wedding events, but this shop is actually the cutest gift shop! I strongly recommend walking around for unique items sold by local vendors. And try the fudge! It’s amazing.
Around the corner from the Murray Hotel, the cutest coffee shop with beautiful outdoor space
Though the town is small, you could spend a few hours exploring downtown shops and eateries. Check out this website for more about the art galleries and where to eat. We recommend Tranquil Buzz for coffee, Jaliscos for New Mexican food (caution: spicy!), or The Buckhorn for steak if you get there Thursday. If you're serious about exploring the Gila Wilderness, ask me for hiking or camping recommendations. You'll need an extra day or 2, since it takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to the good stuff.
If you're staying a few days and want to get out into the Gila Wilderness, Jordan Hot Springs is an out and back trail (7.5 mi each way) to some natural and pretty deep hot springs. I believe there's camping if you want to backpack in, but it's an epic day. I (Sofia) did this before I ever hiked regularly and I didn't die! It's pretty flat if I remember right.
There's a road I used to drive when I first came to Silver City that takes you through Pinos Altos and Lake Roberts. It takes a few hours, but coming from Florida, it was the prettiest, most foreign drive I'd ever done, through Pines and flats and lakes. If you have time and like driving more than hiking, I recommend this!
White Sands National Monument is like nothing else, and pretty remote, so you might as well make the trip if you're already in New Mexico! It's a 3 hour drive from Silver City and 1.5 hour drive from El Paso. Check out the gallery for our engagement pictures from there.
This is a weird one, but if you want a tour of a copper mine, we may be able to arrange that. Let me know. It's just a unique experience.
If you’re not scared of spice, this is New Mexican food at its finest (and hottest). Get the side of sour cream…
If you’re in town Thursday and looking for a steak, the Buckhorn is a short drive into the pines with some cool history.
Decent breakfast spot downtown. Be warned though, you should go with a lot of time on your hands… small towns, am I right? 😅
