Join us for a weekend event one decade in the making

June 2012, Sofia had just finished her freshman year in Florida and was begrudgingly spending the summer in "the middle of nowhere" New Mexico, her parents' new residence. Running low on money, she had "sacrificed" a summer with friends for her first summer internship with the engineering team at the Chino copper mine. Meanwhile, Seth had just graduated college in upstate New York. Having grown up in the small town of Ogdensburg on the Canadian border, he was itching to go out west. He took the first job that would get him there - also with the engineering team at the Chino Mine. When he arrived onsite, a young intern was there to escort him in, wearing her best steel-toe boots, stickered hard hat and favorite button down shirt. She had done her hair "in case the new guy was cute." Turns out he was. ;) Though Sofia knew right away that she liked him - his quiet intelligence, unpredictable interests and charming wit -, it took some convincing to get him to pay her any attention (he was very professional! She was not so much...). After a summer chatting his ear off on group camping trips and leaving LOTS of Post-It notes on his computer, she finally convinced him to date her 2 weeks before she had to go back to Florida. Thus began 5 years of long distance. Though long distance relationships in one's 20's are very difficult, Seth and Sofia never questioned trying because there was something special between them. After five years of college, grad school, and new careers, they finally settled in Phoenix to start their real adventure: merging their lives into one. Then came five years of aaallll the new hobbies, adding 2 cats and a dog to the mix, buying a house and more job changes and travel. Finally in November 2022, Sofia convinced Seth to run 20 miles in the Grand Canyon with her. Turns out, she didn't need to convince him that hard, because he was planning to propose on this trip! So now we would like to invite our closest friends and family to travel back to this remote mountain town with us. Come see where we first met, experience the magic that is New Mexico and watch us get married (finally!)! Thank you for being in our lives and supporting our relationship through the years.
