Friday night, the theme is "12 de mayo," or southwestern/Mexican themed. Dress code is fun-comfy-dressy. At the most basic, sundress + sweater, sandals or wedges; slacks/jeans, polo. If you want to play into the theme, think colorful skirts/dresses, cowboy boots, bright flowers, jumpsuits, etc. Saturday will be semi-formal/formal. Still ironing out details, but feel free to bring an extra pair of comfy shoes for dancing or walking if needed. There will be secure space to store personal items. Murray Hotel is walking distance from the campus, museum and dad's patio. For those staying at Bear Mountain Lodge, you will need to drive over, but we can arrange for DDs if needed to get you home. Otherwise as you're touring Silver City in your free time, everyone is very casual - jeans, tshirt, leggings.
Silver City is at 6,000-7,000 ft elevation, so it is cool all year round. If you're coming from sea level, you may experience some shortness of breath or that you're more of a lightweight after a few drinks (looking at you, Florida). It's comparable to Arizona's Payson/Prescott climate. May averages 46-78 degrees F with sunny skies and little to no rain. It can be windy, so prepare with layers for hot days and cold nights.
Though we have slightly more flexibility than a typical venue, please RSVP as soon as you can - ideally by March 15 - so we can secure transportation plans and food.
We want you to have the best time possible and we'd love for you to enjoy the festivities late into the night, so we recommend making this an adults only trip unless we've already spoken. But please reach out if you're uncomfortable making childcare arrangements. We may also be able to help you with childcare for 5/13 since there will be college students in town still.
Most, if not all groups, will need to rent a car or drive their car to get to Silver City. If you're staying at the downtown Murray Hotel, it's pretty walkable to stay in the downtown/college area. If a 15 minute walk is not your thing, there is parking as well all over town. If you're staying at Bear Lodge Mountain, it's a 15 min drive from "town." There are hikes onsite, though. There's a dirt drive to get to the lodge, but you don't need high clearance or 4WD. You'll need to drive to wedding events, but you're free to leave your car overnight in the parking lot if you choose to arrange for a DD. Corre Caminos is an after hours, on demand bus service that can take you back for $3.50 one way. They do last call at 10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays though... so we can help find a local driver if needed. https://correcaminosnm.com/programs/ 575-388-3180
