We're Getting Married!

In October 2013, Liz was hired at her first airline, and got based in Columbus, Ohio. There was minimal time in between finishing up training in Indiana and her first trip in Ohio for her to find housing, so she opted to stay at a hostel called The Wayfaring Buckeye. Meanwhile, Christopher was visiting Columbus for a long weekend and staying at the very same hostel. He was traveling as part of his “Major City Quest”, wherein he went around the US and Canada to all the cities with major league sports teams - about 45 cities total - both just to see and experience new places and to explore where he might want to live someday. (AirTran had a fantastic loyalty program back in those days - buy 8, get 1 free!) Luck would have it that they were hungry for breakfast at the same time and got to talking about travel, Columbus, travel, GIS, and travel. After breakfast they parted ways, Christopher went out to explore the city, and Liz off on her first work trip. When Liz returned to the hostel, she found a sweet note from Christopher, and that’s when they began texting. Then came the phone calls and video calls. And then eventually Christopher drove (9 hours?!) back up to Columbus for their first date. The rest is history. Total countries/territories traveled together: 28 and counting We live together in Mill Creek, Washington with our cat, Hima.
